Dear Renton City Council, My name is Lila. I am a resident of King County and I am appalled you would consider an "emergency" ordinance using zoning laws that would effectively kick 230 people experiencing homelessness out of the Red Lion hotel. The only "emergency" involving zoning is single-family residential zones that perpetuate sprawl and predatory gentrification which directly contributes to the homelessness crisis in King County. The "emergency" ordinance you're invoking to kick out people experiencing homelessness is misplaced and cruel and absolutely avoidable. King County has 12000 people experiencing homelessness and that number is expected to rise SIGNIFICANTLY without local/state/federal assistance from the covid era economic crisis. Do not add to this number by CHOICE. Do not take a roof over 230 people's heads. Sincerely, Lila CAUTION: This email originated from outside the City of Renton.
