Subject:Red Lion Shelter
To whom it may concern,
My name is Benton Crane, I’m a seven year resident of this city writing to you all to exp ress my dismay and frustration at
recent moves to shutdown or restrict the operations of the Red Lion shelter.
I’m a Renton homeowner, a 737 MAX mechanic, a past Renton Tech student, and a proud IAM 751 union member.
These reactionary zoning proposals to limit access to decent shelter for the most vulnerable members of our community
makes a mockery of our city and brings shame to our community and those who live, work, and go to school here. Why
some elements of our city’s government chose to make this an issue during a recession and global pandemic is hard to
fathom.
I call upon all members of the city council to reject these heartless, and frankly sinister, attempts restrict present and
future shelters and work proactively with our homeless brothers and sister and their advocates to create a just and
equitable Renton that is truly ahead of the curve.
Sincerely,
Benton Crane
