Do not click links, reply or open attachments unless you know the content is safe. Good Afternoon, I am writing in opposition to the proposed legislation AB-2766. While I can empathize with the local Renton business’s and community, the proposed legislation negatively impacts the minority populations currently living inside the shelter. In addition if passed we will be working against our efforts to control the spread of COVID-19. We can all agree that we did not expect the pandemic to last as long as it has. We have all had to adapt and make changes. Myself, a working mother with three kids currently attending school remotely is no easy task. I am confident that the owners of the Red Lion Hotel and King County Public Health department did dot expect the COVID risks to remain this high as we are nearing the new year. I am a current resident in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle where I first hand, see the impacts of the homeless population in King County. I work in the South Sound and work with many business owners in Renton. I have also visited the Red Lion site within the last couple of weeks. When I first heard about King County’s intention to lease the Red Lion Hotel for use as a shelter I believed it to be one of the best options to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This is not intended to be a permanent solution but like all of us dealing with the impacts of the pandemic we need to continue to do our part in order to get through this difficult time. Thank you for your consideration, Melanie Miller Sent from my iPad LR - 000452
