Based on the information provided and our understanding of the project and its APE, we recommend an archeological review performed for this project. This is in an area the Duwamish Tribe considers culturally significant. Since it is so close to a Duwamish fishery and fish-drying place called cbaltuÊ” it has a moderate-high probability to have unknown archaeological deposits. If any archaeological work is performed, we request notification. An IDP should not be used in lieu of an archeological investigation. Cultural and archaeological resources are non-renewable and are best discovered prior to ground disturbance. Additionally, we do not think it is appropriate to remove the majority of significant trees or exceed the existing impervious surface requirements since this property is in close proximity to the lake. Significant trees (especially so close to a lake) are likely nesting sites for migratory birds. On SEPA environmental checklists I believe the distance from impervious surfaces to bodies of water is 100ft minimum, which is far less than the distance from this parcel to the Lake. Since there is such a large amount of impervious surfaces in the area and they are all contiguous, they must be conisdered by the city in tandem, and not individually if the real impact on the watershed can be assessed.
