Project No. Permit No. Supplementary Report: At the client’s request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe utility trench excavation and subgrade conditions at the Weatherly Inn development. Utility Trench Excavation: ESNW rep arrived onsite and observed contractor excavating approximately 100’ of a 3.5’ deep utility trench for 4’’ schedule 40 PVC pipe running East from utility vault to main building. ESNW rep recommended bedding conduit in up to 18’’ of pea gravel. ESNW rep recommended backfilling with 1 ¼’’ crushed recycled concrete compacted in 12’’ lifts with a vibratory hoe pack. ESNW rep used a ½’’ steel T-probe and found the subgrade to be suitably dense, firm, and unyielding and suitable for support of the proposed utility conduit. ESNW rep will return as requested to continue observation and testing of further earthwork activities.
