Utility Trench Backfill: ESNW rep arrived onsite and observed contractor had backfilled approximately 100’ of 3.5’ deep secondary utility trench running East to main building from utility vault with 1 1/4’’ minus recycled crushed concrete compacted in 12’’ lifts to grade with a hoe pack. ESNW rep used a ½’’ steel T-probe and found the subgrade to be suitably dense, firm, and unyielding. ESNW rep observed that the contractor had achieved minimum compaction standards of 95% or greater in tested locations. ESNW rep will return as requested to continue observation and testing of further earthwork activities.
