Project Name Kennydale Culvert Repair
Project Number 1139984
Project Location This project is located on King County property (Parcel No. 312405-9004)
at 3233 Mountain View AVE Renton, WA 98056, Section 31 Township
24 North Range 05 East, Long, Lat: -122.20916, 47.52090
Project Description
Currently there is a sinkhole on King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks (Parks)
property (Parcel 3124059004) in the city of Renton at 3233 Mountain View AVE. The sinkhole
is in the middle of a driveway that serves two properties. The drain line creating the sink hole has
been inspected. The findings show the concrete pipe has broken allowing water to escape its
intended path and significantly reducing the capacity of the pipe. This leads to water both
backing up to the inlet and escaping out into the driveway surface. Parks is proposing to replace
the broken 12-inch concrete drainpipe with a corrugated HDPE pipe and to add a type 1 catch
basin to facilitate a proper connection where the drain changes directions. Parks also proposes to
add a type 2 catch basin where the culvert from under the trail connects to the new HDPE pipe.
No in-water work will occur, and no critical areas will be impacted by the project. This project is
repair and maintenance and does not change drainage patterns or stormwater discharge locations.
SEPA Exemption
King County has determined that this project is categorically exempt from the State
Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) under WAC 197-11-800(3) Repair, remodeling, and
maintenance activities.
