RFI TITLE: Split System Mounting & Ducting
REFERENCE Dwg/Spec: M-400
QUESTION
McKinstry RFI No. 008
Subcontractor RFI No. -
COMPANY: McKinstry
1. North wall is about 8' high with about 3' of foam infill wall to ceiling with no structural members available for
mounting equipment. Alternatives proposed will be providing backing behind wall, lowering units, or requesting
ceiling mounted equipment and suspend equipment from ceiling. Please confirm acceptable alternative(s) or
propose a recommendation.
2. IDU-1 will likely need to be installed above electrical panel or IT equipment. Is a secondary drain pan required?
Is a fill alarm required?
3. The drawings call for 24" round supply ductwork from the louver to the new supply fan. Between the cable tray
and conduits there is not enough room for a 24" round duct. We will need to either go to a rectangular duct do
that we can reduce to 20" in that dimension or oval ductwork.
Confirm this is acceptable.

POTENTIAL COST IMPACT: MAYBE ROM COST: $ n/a
POTENTIAL SCHEDULE IMPACT: MAYBE EST. DELAY: n/a
RESPONSE
1. Wall backing and lowering the units both appear to be acceptable solutions.
2. Shift the location of IDU-1 as needed to avoid being installed above electrical equipment.
3. Rectangular duct is acceptable so long as it is equivalently sized.
