1.SEE CIVIL GRADING PLANS FOR TREE PROTECTION FENCING. ALL TREE RETENTION, PROTECTION AND
CLEARING ACTIVITIES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH RENTON MUNICIPAL CODE (RMC) 4-4-130 TREE
RETENTION AND LAND CLEARING REGULATIONS.
2.PRIOR TO DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TREE PROTECTION MEASURES IN
ACCORDANCE WITH RMC 4 4 130H FOR ALL EXISTING TREES SHOWN TO BE SAVED.
3.A CERTIFIED ARBORIST OR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT SHALL MONITOR THE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES THAT ARE
NECESSARY WITHIN THE TREE DRIPLINES.
4.WRITTEN NEED FOR REMOVAL OR REVISED LANDSCAPE AND CLEARING/ GRADING PLANS SHALL BE REVIEWED
AND APPROVED BY CURRENT PLANNING PROJECT MANAGER PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION PERMIT APPROVAL.

1. A 6-FOOT HIGH TEMPORARY CHAIN LINK FENCE
MUST BE PLACED WHERE SHOWN ON PLANS A MINIMUM OF FOUR BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF WORK
OR SITE DEMOLITION. VERIFY LOCATIONS WITH CIVIL. NOTIFY THE CLEARING AND GRADING INSPECTOR TO GET BOTH THE
INSPECTION AND WRITTEN APPROVAL OF FLAGGED TREES AND TEMPORARY PROTECTION FENCING AROUND TREES TO BE
SAVED PER THE APPROVED PLANS.
2. NO STOCKPILING OF MATERIAL AND NO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ARE ALLOWED WITHIN THE
LIMITS OF THE TEMPORARY FENCING. LIMIT INTRUSION INTO TREE DRIP ZONES WHEN POSSIBLE. FILLING, EXCAVATING, AND
CLEARING WITHIN FENCED AREAS MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED BY HAND METHODS ONLY.
3. ROOTS OF TREES TO BE SAVED WHICH ARE DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION WILL BE
TREATED IN THE FOLLOWING WAY:
FOR DAMAGED ROOTS OVER 1'' IN DIAMETER, MAKE A CLEAN, STRAIGHT CUT TO REMOVE THE DAMAGED PORTION OF THE
ROOT. ALL EXPOSED ROOTS WILL BE TEMPORARILY COVERED WITH DAMP BURLAP OR WOOD SHAVING TO PREVENT DRYING
AND COVERED WITH EARTH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
4. PER RMC 4-4-130-H.9.f, ALL AREAS WITHIN THE REQUIRED FENCING SHALL BE COVERED COMPLETELY AND EVENLY WITH A
MINIMUM OF THREE INCHES (3") OF BARK MULCH PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF THE PROTECTIVE FENCING.
RESTRICTIONS:
TREES TO BE PRESERVED SHALL BE DESIGNATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
APPROVED TREE PRESERVATION PLAN ON FILE WITH THE CITY OF RENTON.
DESIGNATED TREES WHICH ARE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED SHALL BE
REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH RMC 4-4-130 TREE RETENTION AND LAND
CLEARING REGULATIONS, OR AS HEREAFTER AMENDED.
