TREE PRESERVATION NOTES
1. THE CRITICAL ROOT ZONE (CRZ)OF PROTECTED TREES SHALL BE MARKED PRIOR
TO CLEARING AND GRADING ACTIVITIES.
2. 3" OF COMPOSTED WOODCHIPS SHALL BE PLACED OVER THE CRZ OF ALL RETAINED
TREES.
3. TREE PROTECTION FENCING SHALL BE PURCHASED IN CONTINUOUS ROLLS AND
CUT TO THE LENGTH OF THE BARRIER TO AVOID USE OF JOINTS. WHEN JOINTS ARE
NECESSARY, FENCING SHALL BE SPLICED TOGETHER ONLY AT A SUPPORT POST
WITH MIN. 6" OVERLAP, AND SECURELY FASTEN BOTH ENDS TO THE POST.
4. THE TREE PROTECTION FENCE SHALL BE INSTALLED AND MAINTAINED A MINIMUM
OF 3' BEYOND THE OUTER EDGE OF THE CRZ FOR ALL PROTECTED TREES. FENCING
SHALL COMPLETELY SURROUND THE REQUIRED TREE PROTECTION AREA. FENCING
SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL THE CITY AUTHORIZES THE REMOVAL OR ISSUES A
FINAL CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST.
5. TREE PROTECTION FENCING SHALL BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO ANY LAND
DISTURBANCE ACTIVITIES.
6. NO STORAGE OF MATERIALS OR EQUIPMENT WITHIN THE CRITICAL ROOT ZONE IS
ALLOWED. DURING DEVELOPMENT, NO PERSON SHALL ATTACH ANY OBJECT TO ANY
DESIGNATED FOR PROTECTION.
7. REPLACE/REPAIR PROTECTIVE FENCING AS REQUIRED.
8. GRADE SHALL NOT BE FILLED OR CUT WITHIN THE CRZ OF ANY TREE DESIGNATED
TO REMAIN WITHOUT PRIOR REVIEW BY THE CITY'S QUALIFIED TREE PROTECTION
PROFESSIONAL AND ADVANCE, WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE DIRECTOR.
9. TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PRACTICAL, UTILITY TRENCHES SHALL BE LOCATED
OUTSIDE OF THE ROOT PROTECTION ZONE OF TREES TO BE RETAINED. BORING OR
TUNNELING UNDER THE CRZ MAY BE CONSIDERED AN ALTERNATIVE, BUT SHALL
REQUIRED THE ADVANCE, WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THE DIRECTOR.
10. TREES AND OTHER VEGETATION TO BE RETAINED SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM
EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION.
11. PLACARDS SHALL BE PLACED ON FENCING EVERY FIFTY FEET (50') READING, "NO
TRESPASSING - PROTECTED TREES" ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE FENCING.
