RENTON MUNICIPAL ARTS COMMISSION MINUTES �
March 03,2015 Renton City Hall, 7th Floor—Conference Center
Members Present:
Paul Hebron, Jerri Everett,Jaris English, Mitch Shepherd, Bill Huls, Ben Andrews and Evelyn
Reingold Excused Absence: Marsha_Rollinger
Staff Present: Elizabeth Higgins, RMAC Staff Liaison,John Collum, Department of
Community and Economic Development,and Todd Black, Community Services Department,
Parks Planning and Natural Resources Division, Landscape Architect.
' Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by RMAC Co-Chair, Paul Hebron.at 4:35 prn.
Introduction of Guests:and Dri Ralph, Facilities Design Coordinator for KCLS and Maaike
Post, Hull Architects.
Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the February 3, 2015 RMAC meeting were read and
accepted as submitted. (MSC) Mitch/Bill
New Business:
• RMAC 2015 Bud�et from Citv of Renton—The allocation is$2,900. (Same as 2014)
• 4Culture 2015-16 Grant—It is expected that the same amount of$11,000 for each of
the 2 years will be awarded. Official notification is pending. There needs to be some
discussion regarding if the RMAC wants to continue to use the full 4Culture grant for
awards to Renton arts organizations. An option would be to fund some RMAC projects
such as PAR, Film Frenzy,or the TBD Galvanizing Art project. Will be retreat topic.
Old Business:
• Downtown Public Librarv Art Relocation—Images of the plan to move the"Stilt Walker"
' sculpture near the front door of the new library entrance were presented. This is in
close proximity to "Homework Comes First"sculpture. Jaris,Jerri and Mitch to meet to
discuss proposal and other options. Elizabeth will consult with Benson Shaw for his
public art opinion.
• New Applications for"Make Art Happen"Grants-1)to promote documentary film '
featuring Renton's Duwamish Tribe with photo licensing and technicians for post-
production. 2) PTSA for"Reflections Art Program". RMAGaction on the two grant �
applications will be tabled until the next meeting.
• "Emer�in�"Relocation Update—Repairs by ArtTech is complete and installation date is
TBD.

� Committee Reports:
� • New Commissioners—Seven applicants seem to be viable candidates. Elizabeth will set
� � in interview schedule with available commissioners before our next RMAC meeting. No
Youth has applied. Elizabeth will speak with Kim Sweet again for names.
• Film Frenzv—The committee is working to keep on track without any funding from the
City of Renton. They are attempting to identify other possible funding sources.
• Communitv Marketin�—There is$5000 allocated for murals in downtown Renton from
the city. The first installation for the utility box wrap(On Burnett in front of the Bank of
America)will be done after the art is selected. Several Renton High School seniors.

with Western Wear for art installations in their empty store windows. '
" • Correspondence and announcements: The correspondence and event folders were
circulated for individual review.
