RENTON MUNICIPAL ARTS COMMISSION MIfVUTES
November 4,2014 Renton City Hall, 7th Floor—Conference Center
Members Present:
Marsha Rollinger,Jerri Everett,Jaris English, Ben Andrews, Mitch Shepherd, Bill Huls, Michele
Bettinger, Paul Hebron,and Evelyn Reingold Excused Absence: Peter Hartley ,

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order,by RMAC Vice-President, Marsha Rollinger at 4:37
pm.

� Introduction of Guests: Sybil Turner; Downtown Renton Storefront Actiyation Group
Sybil showed us a proposal for an artist installation in the American Drapery empty storefront
windows. �The art,will be on display for 6 months. The potential artists are part of the Shunpike
group of Seattle Storefront Artists. They all have suitable works available for immediate _
installation. They are: Julia Haack; Elizabeth Gahan, Paul Komada and Liz Tran.A Small Grant
, application has been submitfed.
Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the October 7,2014 RMAC meeting were read and accepted as

Correspondence and announcements: The correspondence and event folders were circulated
for individual review.

A letter from the Mayor to thank Youth Position member, Natalie Gress for her participation on
the RMAC was read.

Committee Reports: �
• Executive Committee:
Annual Report To The Mayor—The report will give a general overview and
. focus on the following topics: 1%For Art Fund, General Fund Allocation,
Administrative Support, Building Awareness and Implementation Of Five Year
Master Plan. � .
Old Business:
• Film Frenzy: The events were very successful with strong entertainment value. Twelve
teams competed and over 200 film fans attended the Film Frenzy Screening and the '
Curvee Gala Awards and NW Film Honors events.

• Goin�Global: Facilities has installed the plaque on top of the north wall and not at the �

front as recommended. Due to the inclement weather,the dedication of the installation
will be postponed until it's one year inspection date.
• Grants Report: Elizabeth submitted our 4Culture Grant applications for the Heritage and
- . Sustained Support funds on time.
� � There was a discussion about art projects related to city departments. Two Small Grants
, Applications for$500 each were approved: Renton Youth Svmphony—Support tutoring ,
of students and two coaches. '(MSC) Michelle/Mitch and Storefront Artist Stipend—To
cover installation and additional insurance above building owner's liability. (MSC) �

• RMAC Lo�o Update: Five examples were presented from Marsha and Paul. The RMAC
members discussed and rated their favorites. Marsha and Paul will present the winner at
our next meeting. .

� • Renton Chamber of Commerce Holidav Li�htin�Proiect_Ben suggested that might be a �
role for the RMAC. He will follow-up and report at our next meeting. �
