' � EXCUSED: Pat Baylor, Bill Clapp, Mij Charbonneau, Kris Stimpson STAFF: Shawn Daly, Debbie Little, Mary Jane Ortiz CALL TO ORDER—Secretary Kay Stone called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as stands. APPROVAL OF AGENDA/MINUTES — Minutes of.the previous meeting were read, correction were noted, a motion was made and seconded andthe minutes were approved. , PRESIDENTS REMARKS: None � TREASURER REPORT: Sandra Polley Bank balance as of 05/08/15 $18,039.50 RECREATION SUPERVISOR: Shawn Daly ' Shawn reported that he has told Facilities that a darken tint on the windows in the pool room is needed. Also the grab b,ar suggestion for the restrooms is a good idea and will be pursued. The Ikuda Fund has.a balance of$741,140.00. . Good news is they are going to start the roofing project this Wednesday starting at 6:00 A.M. It will take approximately one week and hopefully will not be disruptive to classes that are going on. ,Nothing is going to be cancelled and we will just work through the noise. � It was mentioned in the May 18th minutes that Debbie, Lisa and I were at the conference in Chelan and it needs to be noted that Renton was a big part of the conference. Our. TaiChi instructor Viola Brumbaugh started the presentation off with doing an exercise in TaiChi. Lisa Wivag our Recreation Coordinator did a.:brain fitness exercise that was very well received. Debbie did one session of the 99 Second Programming and then Kris and I did a presentation of our business plan. A very special award was given to _one of our employee's, Debbie Little was named the Professional of the Year Award. Next Monday Debbie will be at City Hall with the Mayor for a recognition of this achievement. RECREATION COORDINATOR—Debbie Little � With one month left on the Golden Opportunities brochure Debbie is busy get the 1uly, August and September brochure ready. � Richy Harmon our Aerobics instructor-is retiring after serving at the center for 19 years. She ' will be greatly missed. A new instructor has been obtained. There will be a change from three classes a week to two classes held on'Mondays and Wednesday 9:15— 10:15. - We are currently looking for another computer instructor. Brian Dugger the current,instructor is cutting back on his schedule. � We are taking a break from our Wednesday evening classes and the last evening will be June 24th. The Wednesday evening classes will resume in October. A new Driftwood Sculpture class starts June 4-June 25 Thursdays 9:00—12:00 P.M. - There is a Safeco Field Tour/Pyramid Brewing on Thursday June 9th 9:00-2:00 P.M. , , �� r�� � ' , , � � Page two cont. Speaker: .Your Home is One of Your Biggest Assets will be at the center on Tuesday June gtn 12:30—2:30 P.M. This is a free program. A new Drawing Class instructing on Graphite/Colored Pencil will start June 10 — July 15. This class is held every Wednesday 1:00—4:00 P.M. Regional Reduced Fare Permit/Orca Card representative will be at the center Tuesday June 16 . 11:00—12:00 P.M. The Yakima Valley Wine Tour is on Thursday June 18th 7:30 — 7:30 P.M. We have partnered � with Auburn Senior Center and have chartered a bus. NOTE: Marge Cochran Reep, Chair for the Programs and Marketing Committee asked for volunteers for the Farmers Market on June 16th. Volunteers responded and the 2:30 P.M. — 5:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.—7:00 P.M. times have been filled. � DIRECTOR/ADMINISTRATOR REPORT— Mary Jane Ortiz for Kris Stimpson With.summer starting there are many activities beginning. The Farmers Market open Tuesday June 2"d and continues thru Labor Day. The Renton City Summer Concert Band is perform�ing June 14t" at the Ikea Center. Admission is $7.00 for seniors. June 20t"the Henry Moses Aquatic Center opens also the Coulon Beach and Kennydale beach open. Renton is providing a new life jacket program where life jackets are being made available free to the public. June 23�d a new program begiris, Fitness in the Park. This is being held at local parks on select Tuesdays from 6:00 P.M. —7:00 P.M. The June 23�d Fitness in the Park is a Zumba and is being held at Heritage Park. WRITTEN and/or ORAL COMMUNICATION— " " - Nothing at this time ' ' NEW BUSINESS — Vicki Richards asked if the minutes could be e-mailed prior to the board " meeting. Secretary�Kay Stone will implement this change . OLD BUSINESS — Karla Nuss inquired about follow-up on her concern about access for wheel chairs at Grady and Shattuck. Mary Jane will follow-up on this. Vicki Richards inquired about the Outreach Program at the Center. Marge Cochran Reep is to follow-up on this. � - , PUBLIC COMMENTS— _ Shirley Haddock had feedback from seniors regarding the new van. Very positive comments. Sandy Polley wanted to know if we might expand on the Bean Bag Program. There are more people interested in playing. This will be considered for later possibility. � , .
