$17,791.74.
RECREATION SUPERVISOR: Shawn thanked the volunteers that attended the
customer relations presentation. About a total of 50 people showed up for this
presentation, which fulfilled one of the Committees goals. He also received a
check of $125 from Lottie Calhoun and passed this and some bingo prize receipts
to Sandy. Next, John Collum from the economic development department of the
City will make a 15-minute presentation at our next meeting (2/16/15) about future
growth of Renton. The fire department was in the Center for 4 days making 190
heart and blood checks. They came up with 35 blood pressure alerts and 3 blood
sugar alerts.
Shawn thanked the volunteers that helped at the biannual Blue Berry pancake
breakfast and remarked how smoothly it went. Gave a special thanks to Bill Clapp
for his grill work and noted that both Bill's and his own shirt were wringing wet.
Milt asked what the cost was — the City Employees Union paid for it — and Shawn
reported it was under $400. Milt then suggest that may be the committee would
finance the breakfast in,::between years. Shawn replied that it was more a question
of the effort than the cost. This item was left for a latter date. Another breakfast —

the Knights of Columbus sponsored one — is coming up on Saturday March 14,

The Renton Senior Center Business Plan is in the final stages and should be back
to the committee by the first meeting in April. Debbie and Shawn will make a
presentation about this document at a State Senior Center Conference in May.
OPEN ITEM: Report on the Microsoft motion study?? -
NEW BUSINESS
Milt Tiede brought up Feed-back "if a ramp can in the parking lot be installed by
Coffeebar door"? The answer was no — that it is nearly impossible to install one
that will meet the "88" Adacode. Vickie Richards brought the possibility of a
Parkinson's support group. Sean responded by pointing out the space limitations.
Peggy asked if a speaker on the subject of Dementia and Alzheimer's and maybe
Parkinsons could be invited. This should be brought up to Pattie or Shirley
Haddock's team, who handles the speakers `bureau". She also asked if there was
any word on the Audiologist—nothing new.
Vicki Richards mentioned a book — "Home away from Home" — a history on how
the Senior Center came to being. Jim Densor was the Chair of the committee and
the book describes the efforts to make it happen — Shawn has a copy. Another
point she brought up was her neighborhood efforts to have speakers. Shawn
countered by stating that Renton has now 25 Neighborhoods and these places may
be an excellent place for the Senior Center to be advertised. NOTE TO MARGE.
Ruby said it was hard to deternune what people are coming in the door. Which
raised the question how effective the cards and scanners are — the truth - is its not.
But a new system is being studied.
The float committee has been notified by Bill to stay after — to kick off the effort
for this year's parade.
The new van is still not purchased—waiting for a test drive.
Vice President Bill Clapp adjourned the meeting at 10:52
