EXAMPLE OF PUBLIC NOTICE
Sound Transit utility potholing in Lynnwood
at 196th St. SW/36th Ave. W and Poplar Way
From September 7th – 9th 2021, Sound Transit will collect soil samples and six (6) potholes to
locate utilities for the I-405 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. To minimize traffic impacts and
worker safety concerns, this work will take place over two to three (3) nights between the hours of
9PM-4AM. The locations of the potholes are shown in the map on the back of this document.
I-405 BRT is currently in its design phase. This work, along with similar work throughout the
corridor, will help us better understand the conditions underground to inform the project design.

196th Street SW/36th Avenue W intersection and Poplar Way I-5 northbound on-ramp

· Potholing equipment will cause minimal increase in existing freeway background noise
· Utility pothole locations will be backfilled, and repaved if needed, with appropriate materials to restore to existing
condition
· Partial lane closures and other traffic control measures on 196th Street SW and 36th Avenue W and on Poplar
Way will include advanced signage and cones placed around the work zone

About the project
This Stride bus rapid transit project connects communities along I-405 and SR 518 from Lynnwood to Burien. With
buses running as often as every 10 minutes, new service will connect to Link light rail at Lynnwood, Bellevue and
Tukwila as well as to other transit service by Sound Transit, Community Transit and King County Metro. The
project includes a new transit center in South Renton and 10 BRT stations. soundtransit.org/i405brt
