These additional funds will be used for final payment to the contractor and for the purchase for furniture for the facility . Mr. Webley noted 140 votes more than needed to validate. Tonda, Renton Historical Society for removal of edar Tree large cedar tree from the south side of the museum. The report tt Historical noted Mr. Tonda changed his request to trimming of tree affecting Society Museum down spouts and asked that drain tile be repaired, that building work accomplished since the fire department vacated the building has been primarily financed by the Historical Society through state and county grants, Barr{= work done by the Renton Building Department. The report recommended that the original request to remove the tree be denied and that the matter of trimming, dren work and landscaping maintenance be referred to the Admirals- tration for proper assignment to avoid future confusion. Barbee Mill Co. has requested a City resolution recommending the the Washington State Harbor Line Commission relocate the inner harbor line which is adjacent to the mill property (City limits and the inner harbor line coincide) . The report explained that jurisdiction for area to water side of inner harbor line rests with the State Department of Natural Resources and the Seattle Port District; that relocation of the harbor line would resolve jurisdictional question and permit annexation to city. Donald 0. Norman , Quendall Terminals, requested resolution, motion by Council and letter of concurrence to support the Barbee proposal . The report noted the proposed revision would be necessary prior to an annexation request by Barbee. The Committee recommended that Council support the request of the Barbee Mill Co. and the Mayor be requested to forward letter to the State Harbor Line Commission. Since that time, the Municipal Arts Commission has been reviewing appropriate uses for the funds . In early March 1979 , the Commission ' s Art Selection Committee recommended that the monies be used for two individual works of art . The first object would be located on the north wall of the first level multi-purpose room, behind the raised performing platform. The second art object would be located on the south wall of the entry foyer directly facing the entry doors. A prospectus describing the project ' s details was distributed to Northwest artists beginning March 26 , 1979. On July 7, 1979 , a jury consisting of the architect , an artist , an arts generalist , a member of the Arts Commission ' s 1% for the Arts Committee , a City representative and a senior citizen , reviewed a total of 19 proposals from 11 artists. Of these the jury selected a hand-spun cotton weaving design from Marcy Johnson of Seattle for the area behind the performing platform and a woven tapestry design from Peg McNair of Seattle for the south wall of the entry foyer. The Municipal Arts Commission has reviewed the decision of the Selection Committee and hereby recommends that the City Council concur in the jury ' s recommendation and selection of the two designs and authorize the Administration to execute the necessary contract documents. Members of the Renton City Council Renton, Washington Dear Mayor Delaurenti and Council Members : The Municipal Arts Commission received notification from the Mayor ' s Office last year that Mr . and Mrs . Charles A. Ruud were willing to donate funds for a stained glass window for the new Senior Citizens ' Center. At that time the Commission' s Art Selection Committee for the Senior Center, the project ' s architect and city representatives met with Mr. Rude and discussed the proposal in greater detail . It was decided that the two large windows (4' -3" by 7 ' -8" each) in the quiet lounge area would be an ideal place for such an art piece. This room is located on the first floor and is intended to function as a room for reading and informal conversation. It will also offer a fireplace, carpeting, wooden bookshelves and a southerly exposure with a view of a brick courtyard, cascading fountain and the river . After several meetings with the Art Selection Committee , a prospectus describing the project details was mailed out to Northwest artists and art organizations . Considering the view from this room, the prospectus included a provision that a minimum of 50% of the design contain clear or transparent glass . Also , due to the above mentioned factors , a preference was expressed toward the use of the more subtle shades of glass . On May 12 , 1979 a jury consisting of the donor , the architect , an artist , an arts generalist , a member of the Municipal Arts Selection Committee, a senior citizen and a city representative reviewed a total of 50 submittals from 26 artists . Of these , the jury selected three artists ' designs for a final competition. Suggestions were made by the jury to the finalists regarding color and design to make each even more compatible with the building. The jury reconvened on June 9 , 1979 to review the re-submitted proposals . At that time the design of Robert and Jill Hill (Hill Associates) was selected as the Committee ' s first choice based upon the design and the artists ' past works (Sanford University , Everett Senior Center , Kirkland Public Library, Spokane Falls Community College , Grandview High School) . III Should performance by Grantee of any act under this agreement result in damage to or destruction of any buildings, landscaping, fences or other improve- ments, Grantee shall immediately reimburse the damaged party to the full extent necessary to restore said party to the position he would have held absent said injury. IV Grantee shall be required to pay any general or special assessments levied upon or because of Grantee's improvements on the easement premises or upon or because of Grantee's interests under the easement. V In the event that said premises shall at any.time cease to be used by the Grantee for water line purposes for a period of five years, all rights of the Grantee shall automatically terminate and revert to the title owner of the premises and the Grantee will release its interest in said grant.
