Eligible participants in the Health Through Housing Renton Supportive Housing program (formerly homeless
individuals) may need educational training, health care, chemical dependency treatment, mental health
counseling, adequate food, assistance to develop independent living skills, and other supportive services to
promote personal well-being and self-sufficiency.
Supportive social service needs will vary from individual to individual, and each participant will work closely
with CCS’s Service Staff to develop a self-identified goal plan for the individual participant. The Service Staff
assist to refer, coordinate and monitor services by acting as a liaison between participants and social service
providers.
The Service Staff will document participants’ progress toward desired outcomes and will work to ensure
adherence to service agreements and commitments made by local community service providers. Case
Managers from local agencies may continue to monitor and work with participants who are referred to the
Renton Supportive Housing program.
The Service Staff will link client actions to desired outcomes by holding participants and agencies accountable
to an agreed upon case management/service plan for individual participants. Case managers from the local
community service agencies will provide creative problem solving through linkages to even broader community
services and resources.
DETAIL OF SUPPORTIVE SERVICES
The Service Staff and local community service agencies will work closely with participants to secure and
monitor the following types of services as needed for individual residents:
Counseling: If residents wish to receive counseling, they can access it through partnerships arranged by the
Service Staff with local providers such as CCS’s Community Mental Health program, CReW.
Health Care: Many residents will have medical care needs. Onsite nursing will be provided through the CCS
CREW program. Health Care for the Homeless and community health centers may provide additional medical
care.
Information & Referral: Site staff and other residents will encourage and facilitate residents to connect with the
resources they need. The Service Staff will provide referral information; additionally residents may set up a
referral committee to provide information to other residents on services that are available.
Education/Job Training: Some of the residents have job skills; stable housing promotes their employment
stability. For those who need job training, YWCA Employment Services provides short-term training, support
services, and job placement assistance. Residents may participate in GED programs for adults. In addition,
there are numerous programs that provide training in specific job skills, including Fare Start, (culinary arts),
Seattle Vocational Center, Pioneer Industries, Goodwill and Apprenticeships and Non-Traditional Employment
for Women.
Senior/Disabled Services: For residents who need regular chore services, they can be provided by Catholic
Community Services or Fremont Public COPES.
