Box 3766, Seattle 24, Washington November 22, 1957 The Honorable Mayor and The City Council of the City of Renton Renton, Washington r Honorable Sirs: Request is hereby respectfully submitted for permission to install a sign and pole on public property in front of 1316 Bronson Way, Renton. We enclose the following drawings supplementing our request: 1. Plot Plan showing location of the proposed sign and location of the existing' sign which will be removed. 2. Design drawing of the new sign. 3. Conversion drawing showing .how the existing pole is revamped to accept the new sign. The selection of the parking strip for the sign location was made for these reasons: (1) The station building, as now situated on the rear of the lot, is well hidden from the approaching motorist, and so does not serve as an identify- ing medium. In order to offset this lack of visibility it was considered desirable to place the identification sign in a position to secure maximum visibility so the motorist would have ample time to slow down and enter the station at a safe rate of speed. (2) The lot is rather small by modern standards, and a sign pole placed on the lot where the sign would be visible from the street, would create a physical as well as a psychological hazard for the motorist driving onto the lot; hence the desire to place the pole out of the way of traffic on the lot. We believe the proposed installation will materially help Mr. William Reick in the operation of his business. Of course the City of Renton will be held harmless for any action arising from the installation or use of the sign. Respectfully- yours, GDHook/ug GENERAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION Encl. ///irl // By.. . , / ; ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT _-•'-- -..._.--- - . ._ ----- :f I :; e t: i\\ NO` Nov2 , t C:00 4in ;oz2'ltd. 1 -41IDj P, 0 d 61 tY " 1 i I I / /// / / // • 'qA:,,r.,,,,,a5ti7i:_,,i.zl Yam_- -`/d`" yqQ . ..__4_N.r_____r________,_____._.______.. _ . ______,_______„______ .___ _........,___ ___ • '.-. 1 Cwpt W, -It.. 1.S.,A.GSM 1. -n-,8 l I I If It ``I I r r— lii t . r I 11), iv r— , RN , i in, . , : _ . , , ri—i , , N/ C 4 1( I • 1 f ' e _ IS.OI '.1/d ..-r C I' -.i y 1 • • July 21, 1955 • City Clerk 6rti }Q , City of Renton /r't'4 J Jv`` Sir; 64) PI •a !I F yoN We, the undersigned, - respectfully request that the City of '— Renton either vacate or allow us to purchase the below described property.
