GENERAL UTILITY NOTES
1. NOT ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ARE NECESSARILY SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. CALL 811 "CALL BEFORE YOU DIG' FOR UNDERGROUND UTILITY FIELD LOCATION 48 HOURS PRIOR TO BEGINNING
WORK AT EACH SITE.
2. FIBER OPTIC CABLES ARE BURIED WITHIN MOST OF THE SITES OF WORK. EXERCISE EXTREME CARE TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THESE CABLES. REPAIR OR REPLACE THEM, AS DIRECTED BY THE PROJECT
REPRESENTATIVE AND TO THE SATISFACTION OF THEIR OWNER(S), IF DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE WORK UNDER THIS CONTRACT.
3. ALL TRENCH EXCAVATION OPERATIONS SHALL MEET OR EXCEED ALL APPLICABLE SHORING LAWS FOR TRENCHES. ALL TRENCH SAFETY SYSTEMS SHALL MEET WISHA REQUIREMENTS, TRENCHING THAT
MAY AFFECT TREE ROOTS SHALL BE DONE UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF AN ARBORIST APPROVED BY THE AGENCY HAVING JURISDICTION OVER THE SITE WORK.
4. ADJUST TO NEW GRADE ALL MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS, BOXES AND HAND HOLES.
5. ALL IMPROVEMENTS SHALL MEET LOCAL, STATE DOT AND A.P.W.A. STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
6. THE DESIGN SHOWN IS BASED UPON THE ENGINEERS UNDERSTANDING OF THE EXISTING CONDITIONS. THIS PLAN DOES NOT REPRESENT A DETAILED FIELD SURVEY. THE EXISTING CONDITIONS SHOWN
ON THIS PLAN SHEET ARE BASED UPON SURVEY PREPARED BY 1 ALLIANCE. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING FIELD CONDITIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING THE PROPOSED SITEWORK
IMPROVEMENTS. IF CONFLICTS ARE DISCOVERED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF ANY PORTION OF THE SITEWORK WHICH WOULD BE AFFECTED. IF

SURVEY BY A REGISTERED LAND SURVEYOR AND SUBMIT IT TO THE OWNER FOR REVIEW.
7. CAUTION- NOTICE TO CONTRACTOR
THE CONTRACTOR IS SPECIFICALLY CAUTIONED THAT THE LOCATION AND/OR ELEVATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES AS SHOW ON THESE PLANS IS BASED ON RECORDS OF THE VARIOUS UTILITIES, AND
WHERE POSSIBLE, MEASUREMENTS TAKEN IN THE FIELD. THE INFORMATION IS NOT TO BE RELIED ON AS BEING EXACT OR COMPETE. THE CONTRACTOR MUST CALL THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY COMPANY
AT LEAST 48 HOURS BEFORE ANY EXCAVATION TO REQUEST EXACT FIELD LOCATION OF UTILITIES. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO RELOCATE ALL EXITING UTILITIES AND
EXISTING IMPROVEMENTS WHICH CONFLICT WITH THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS ON THE PLANS.
B. CONTRACTOR SHALL REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL PLANS FOR EXACT LOCATION AND DIMENSIONS OF VESTIBULE, SLOPED PAVING, EXIT PORCHES,SIDEWALKS, RAMPS AND TRUCK DOCKS, PRECISE
BUILDING DIMENSIONS AND EXACT BUILDING UTILITY ENTRANCE LOCATIONS.
9. REFER TO INTERIOR PLUMBING DRAWINGS FOR TIE-IN OF ALL UTILITIES.
10, CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE UTILITY AUTHORITIESINSPECTORS 72 HOURS BEFORE CONNECTING TO ANY EXISTING LINE.
11. MINIMUM WATER AND SANITARY SEWER TRENCH WIDTH SHALL BE 2 FEET.
12, WATER AND SANITARY SEWER UTILITIES SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM TEN-FOOT(10-)HORIZONTAL SEPARATION (PARALLEL), OR WHEN CROSSING I8"VERTICAL (OUTSIDE EDGE OF PIPE TO OUTSIDE EDGE OF
PIPE). ALL OTHER UTILITIES SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM FIVE-FOOT (6) HORIZONTAL SEPARATION (PARALLEL), OR WHEN CROSSING 12" VERTICAL CLEARANCE (OUTSIDE EDGE OF PIPE TO OUTSIDE EDGE OF
PIPE OR CONDUIT).
13. IN THE EVENT OF A VERTICAL CONFLICT BETWEEN WATER LINES, SANITARY LINES, STORM LINES AND GAS LINES (EXISTING AND PROPOSED), THE SANITARY LINE SHALL BE DUCTILE IRON PIPE WITH
MECHANICAL JOINTS AT LEAST 10 FEET ON BOTH SIDES OF CROSSING, THE WATERLINE SHALL BE MECHANICAL JOINTS WITH APPROPRIATE THRUST BLOCKING AS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF
18" CLEARANCE, MEETING REQUIREMENTS OF ANSI A21.10, ANSI 21.11 AND ANSI 21.51 (AWWA C-151) (CLASS 52), WATER LINES SHALL BE INSTALLED ABOVE SANITARY LINES.
14. LINES UNDERGROUND SHALL BE INSTALLED, INSPECTED AND APPROVED BEFORE BACKFILLING.
15. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLYING WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES WITH REGARD TO MATERIALS AND INSTALLATION OF THE WATER AND SEWER LINES.
16. ALL NECESSARY INSPECTIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED BY CODES AND/OR UTILITY SERVICE COMPANIES SHALL BE PERFORMED PRIOR TO ANNOUNCED BUILDING POSSESSION AND THE
FINAL CONNECTION OF SERVICE.
17. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH ALL UTILITY COMPANIES FOR INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
18, CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE TRENCHING, BACKFILL,2-4" PVC SCHEDULE 40 CONDUITS, AND PULLING WIRES FOR UNDERGROUND TELEPHONE SERVICE FROM EXISTING FACILITIES AS SHOWN ON PLANS.
CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE INSTALLATION AND POINT OF CONNECTION WITH UTILITY PROVIDER.
19. CONTRACTOR IS TO PROVIDE TRENCHING,CONDUIT, AND BACKFILL FOR ALL UNDERGROUND POWER LINE AND VAULTS AS REQUIRED BY UTILITY PROVIDER. POWER LINES AND POLES TO BE INSTALLED
BY UTILITY PROVIDER. SEE SITE ELECTRICAL PLAN FOR SITE LIGHTING AND FOR PRIMARY ELECTRIC SERVICE LOCATIONS.
20. GAS, ELECTRICAL AND COMMUNICATIONS UTILITIES SHOWN FOR COORDINATION ONLY. INSTALLATION TO BE ACCOMPLISHED BY UTILITY PROVIDER.
SANITARY SEWER NOTES
1. SANITARY SEWER MAIN CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO THE STANDARDS OF THE SEWER UTILITY WITH JURISDICTION OVER THE SYSTEM TO BE CONSTRUCTED. WHERE CONFLICT EXISTS BETWEEN
THE UTILITY STANDARDS AND THE NOTES BELOW, THE UTILITY STANDARD SHALL TAKE PRECEDENCE.
2. ALL CONSTRUCTIONANSTALLATION OF SANITARY SEWER MAINS SHALL BE DONE IN A SAFEAEAT AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER, AND UNDER SUPERVISION OF CITY FORCES AT AL TIMES. ALL SAFETY
REQUIREMENTS FROM OSHA AND OTHER STATE REGULATORY AGENCIES MUST BE MET.
3. THE MINIMUM SIZE FOR PUBLIC SEWER MAINS SHALL BE 8"DIAMETER. ALL SANITARY SEWER PIPING SHALL BE SDR35ASTM D3034 PVC OR EQUAL. MINIMUM PIPE DIAMETER FOR PRIVATE LATERALS
IS 4" AND OF SDR 35 ASTM D3034 PVC OR EQUAL. ALL SANITARY SEWER LATERALS MUST BE PROPERLY MARKED AT ENDS.
4. CONNECTIONS INTO THE EXISTING SANITARY SEWER MAINS REQUIRE ISSUANCE OF PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT AND INSPECTION BY THE LOCAL JURISDICTION PRIOR TO BACK FILLING.
5. ALL NEW SANITARY SEWER PIPES AND MANHOLES MUST BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED, INSPECTED AND PRESSUREIVACUUM TESTED AS REQUIRED BY UTILITY PROVIDER AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES
WITH JURISDICTION. ALL TESTS MUST BE WITNESSED AND PASSED BY THE UTILITY PROVIDER AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION PRIOR TO PLACING INTO OPERATION,
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TO THE UTILITY PROVIDER ANY GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY NORMALLY FURNISHED WITH THE PURCHASE OF ANY MATERIALS USED IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROJECT
AT HAND.
WATER NOTES
1. WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO THE STANDARDS OF THE WATER UTILITY WITH JURISDICTION OVER THE SYSTEM TO BE CONSTRUCTED. WHERE CONFLICT EXISTS BETWEEN THE
UTILITY STANDARDS AND THE NOTES BELOW, THE UTILITY STANDARD SHALL TAKE PRECEDENCE.
2. ALL CONSTRUCTIONANSTALLATION OF WATER MAINS SHALL BE DONE IN A SAFE, NEAT AND WORKMANLIKE MANNER, AND UNDER SUPERVISION BY UTILITY PROVIDER FORCES AT ALL TIMES. ALL SAFETY
REQUIREMENTS FROM OSHA AND OTHER STATE REGULATING AGENCIES MUST BE MET.
3. WATER MAIN PIPE MATERIAL SHALL BE CLASS 52 DUCTILE IRON OR PVC PIPE MEETING LOCAL REQUIREMENTS. POLYETHYLENE WRAP IS REQUIRED ON DUCTILE IRON PIPE.
4. AN 18ANCH MINIMUM SEPARATION IS REQUIRED ON SERVICE TAPS ON AMAIN LINE.
5. CLASS 52 DUCTILE IRON MAY BE DIRECT TAPPED FOR 314 INCH AND I -INCH SIZE SERVICES. SADDLES SHALL BE USED ON ALL TAPS 1-114"-2" DIAMETER IN ANY PUBLIC MAIN.
6. ALL ELBOWSIBENDS ON WATER MAINS SHALL HAVE THRUST BLOCKS.
7. ADEPTH OF 36" FROM FINISHED GRADE TO THE TOP OF THE WATER MAIN IS REQUIRED. PLACING WATER LINES SHALLOWER THAN 36"IS PROHIBITED. UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE UTILITY
PROVIDER AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION
8. ALL NEW PIPES MUST BE PROPERLY FLUSHED, PRESSURE TESTED, AND CHLORINATED BY THE CONTRACTOR, AND INSPECTED BY UTILITY PROVIDER AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION.
9. ALL BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES (DOUBLE CHECK BACKFLOW PREVENTORS, REDUCED PRESSURE BACKFLOW PREVENTORS, PRESSURE AND ATMOSPHERIC VACUUM BREAKERS, ETC.) MUST BE
APPROVED BY THE UTILITY PROVIDER AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION.
10. ALL NEW CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING WATER MAINS REQUIRE ISSUANCE OF A PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT AND INSPECTION BY THE CITY OR GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION PRIOR TO
BACKFILLING.
11. BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF CORROSION RESISTANT MATERIALS.
12. EXTERNAL WATER METER AND BACKFLOW PREVENTION VAULTS SHALL BE GASKETED IN AREAS OF HIGH GROUNDWATER OR NEAR STORMWATER MANAGEMENT FACILITIES AS REQUIRED BY THE UTILITY
PROVIDER, CONTRACTOR TO CONFIRM.
13. WHERE WATER METERS ARE REMOVED, ABANDON CONNECTING SERVICE LINES AS REQUIRED BY UTILITY PROVIDER.
14. WHERE WATER METER ARE INSTALLED, CONNECT TO WATER MAIN AND CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AS REQUIRED BY THE UTILITY PROVIDER.
