Ms. Servais,
Thank you for your initial comments related to Kennydale Gateway (LUA22-000011) wherein you’re hoping to start a
conversation regarding the expected access of Lake Washington by future tenants of the Kennydale Gateway project. In
addition, you indicated that the Barbee Mill open space area is being used as an off-leash dog park, boat/kayak launch,
and place for teenagers spend time together. Your email for this proposed project will be added to the public record for
consideration by the reviewing official and you have been added as a party of record.
As part of the development of the 23-acre Barbee Mill site, the approved plans included a passive pedestrian trail along
May Creek. The residential development at Barbee Mill was permitted provided the development provided reasonable
public access to and along the water’s edge of Lake Washington and May Creek. Similar protections and access to
shorelines were also included in the planning of the future Quendall Terminals (LUA09-151) development. The proposed
Kennydale Gateway mixed-use project would be subject to public access development standards to meet the specific
policies and regulations of the Shoreline Master Program.
In addition, the City of Renton has adopted rules and regulations which are designed to ensure safe and attractive
neighborhoods. The City's Code Compliance and Enforcement Program is available to assist in this growth process by
providing enforcement of these rules and regulations in a responsible, fair, courteous, and impartial manner. Code
complaints are vital to ensuring our communities are clean and safe. You may express concerns to the City of Renton via
Renton Responds by leaving a message on the 24-hour Reporting Hotline 425-430-7373.
Thank you for your interest in this project. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or comments.
Regards,

I am writing with the hope that a conversation can be commenced regarding the expected access
of Lake Washington by new apartment residents. We live in Barbee Mill and our home looks out
onto the peninsula that many people have decided is an off leash dog park. I want to say that you
will probably not find a bigger dog lover than I am; but this area is not conducive to this type of
usage. There are often families of deer, often with young fawns, trying to access the May Creek for
water. Many dogs like to bark when they are happily sprinting around the area, causing a noise
disturbance to many who live near there. Some owners- not all- have decided that their dog's
dropping do not have to be picked up when they deposit them in rougher vegetative areas.
Another reason we need to discuss Lake Wash access is in the summer this area becomes a hotbed
of boat/kayak launching and teen hang out. The increase in population in our area, with no other
close access point, is going to increase the usage of this delicate area. I don't know if there will be
any Lake Wash access when the Quandrell project is completed; but this is something that needs
to be addressed. Thank you. Jill Servais
