The City of Renton has designated the following staff representative as the contact to coordinate efforts to comply with this requirement. Inquiries should be directed to: John McFarland Personnel Department 200 Mill Avenue South Renton, WA 98055 235-2556 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday This notice is published pursuant to the requirements of Section 51.55 of the Revenue Sharing Regulations, as published in the Federal Register on October 17, 1983. Section 51.55 prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals because of their handicapped status. CITY OF RENTON e• Maxine E. Motor City Clerk Date of Publication: February 5, 1984 OF R %4 ® ° THE CITY OF RENTON MUNICIPAL BUILDING 200 MILL AVE. SO. RENTON, WASH. 98055 o ° BARBARA Y. SHINPOCH, MAYOR • PERSONNEL DIRECTOR A `O JOHN McFARLAND 0q"FD SEP1 `* MEMORANDUM • • TO: Maxine Motor January 30, 1984 RE: Public Notice, Revenue Sharing Handicapped Regulations Attached is a sample notice suggested by the U.S. Dept, of the Trea- sury for compliance with recently promulgated Revenue Sharing Regula- tions. I have reviewed the contents of the notice with the Mayor's Office and the Personnel Department has been designated as the agency contact for matters or inquiries concerning handicapped policies and practices. In reading the Federal Register, it is unclear as to our continuing requirement for publication/posting of the notice. Without any speci - - fic guidance, I would suggest the legal notice procedures normally observed by the City be followed. If additional publications are required, I 'm sure ORS will notify us. As I indicated on Friday, it is suggested that we announce ORS handi - capped policy compliance through other media sources. I have made arrangements with radio station KSCR to assist us in that effort. will provide you with a copy of the affidavit certifying the airing of the announcement upon receipt. Additionally, the regulations require a three year retention of all records relating to compliance with the handicapped rules , and public access to those records. I suggest that the City Clerk' s files be the best repository for that material . Please advise if you have any questions on this matter. I hope we meet all requirements. No one seems to know precisely what they are, unfortunately.
