NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Proposed use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
Coronavirus (CV) Round 3 Funds
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that due to the ongoing pandemic, a virtual/telephonic Public
Hearing will be held by the Renton City Council on April 4, 2022 at 7 p.m. by means of a
Zoom video-conference web application. For those wishing to attend by Zoom, please

meeting. The meeting can also be viewed on Renton’s Channel 21, or streaming live at
rentonwa.gov/streaming.
The Renton City Council will consider the following: Proposed Use of CDBG-CV Round 3
funds.
The City will receive $698,472 in federal Community Development Block Grant –
Coronavirus Round 3 (CDBG-CV3) funds through King County. These funds must be used
to serve low-moderate income Renton residents and must prevent, prepare for, and
respond to the Coronavirus. A Request for Proposal (RFP) process was held to accept
proposals from the following areas:
• Behavioral Health – Covid-19 related trauma counseling
• Child Care Assistance
• Food Assistance
• Rental Assistance
• Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence
The following six agencies applied requesting a total of $508,000 and are recommended
by the Renton Human Services Advisory Committee for approval:
• Domestic Abuse Women’s Network (DAWN) for $30,000 for rent assistance, shelter
supplies, and domestic violence advocacy.
• King County Sexual Assault Resource Center (KCSARC) for $45,000 for rent
assistance and comprehensive sexual assault services.
• Renton Housing Authority (RHA) for $250,000 for rent assistance.
• St. Vincent de Paul-Centro Rendu for $100,000 for rent assistance.
• Sustainable Renton for $48,000 for food assistance.
• Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care for $35,000 for counseling.
The remaining funding of $190,472 is recommended as follows:
•Staff administration of CDBG-CV3 funds for $8,000.
•Rent assistance of $182,472 for future allocation to qualified agencies, since rent
assistance continues to be an urgent need.

written comments on this topic can be submitted to cityclerk@rentonwa.gov by 5:00
p.m. on April 4, 2022.
