NOTICE OF APPLICATION
A Master Application has been filed and accepted with the Department of Community & Economic Development
(CED) – Planning Division of the City of Renton. The following briefly describes the application and the necessary
Public Approvals.

PROJECT NAME/NUMBER: Khalsa Gurmat Center / 15-000388, CU-H
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The applicant is requesting Hearing Examiner Conditional Use Permit review
for a change of use of a 6,500 square foot retail storefront of the Cascade Village Shopping Center. The request is to
allow use as a religious community center and non-profit space for education and assembly use on weekends. Cascade
Village is an approximate 593,653 square foot (13.6 acres) site within the Commercial Arterial (CA) zone with multiple
buildings. The subject site address is 16940 116th Ave SE in Building B (at PID 2823059009). Access to the storefront is
from 116th Ave SE and SE 168th St. The applicant received City of Renton approvals for a Temporary Use Permit and
Building Occupancy permit through LUA14-001625 for a limited duration and permitting of interior tenant
improvements. The shopping center has an existing mix of restaurants, on-site services, retail, vacant storefronts, and
religious institution uses. No exterior building work or changes to existing landscaping, parking, or other improvements
are proposed. Tenants would use the existing vehicle parking areas near the building and under the power line
easement.

PUBLIC HEARING: Public hearing is tentatively scheduled for July 21, 2015 before the Renton
Hearing Examiner at 12:30 pm, in Renton Council Chambers on the 7th floor
of Renton City Hall.
Comments on the above application must be submitted in writing to Kris Sorensen, Associate Planner, Department of
Community & Economic Development, 1055 South Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057, by 5:00 p.m. on June 30, 2015.
This matter is also tentatively scheduled for a public hearing on July 21, 2015, at 12:30 pm, Council Chambers, Seventh
Floor, Renton City Hall, 1055 South Grady Way, Renton. If you are interested in attending the hearing, please contact
the Planning Division to ensure that the hearing has not been rescheduled at (425) 430-6578. If comments cannot be
submitted in writing by the date indicated above, you may still appear at the hearing and present your comments on the
proposal before the Hearing Examiner. If you have questions about this proposal, or wish to be made a party of record

comments will automatically become a party of record and will be notified of any decision on this project.
