February 2, 2016 Renton City Hall, 7th Floor –Conference Center
Members Present:

Staff Present: Elizabeth Higgins, RMAC Staff Liaison
Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by RMAC Co-Chair, Marsha Rollinger at 6:12 pm.
Introduction of Guests: Secret Ford, The Art of Writing, Program Leader gave a brief
overview of the writing organization that has submitted a Small Grant application to the
RMAC. However due to the Master Plan Strategy agenda item discussion was tabled. Secret
Ford will be invited to attend the March meeting to provide more details of their writing
activities,
Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the January 5, 2016 RMAC meeting were read and
accepted. MSC (Mitch/Mary)
Old Business:
RMAC Commissioner Appointments and reappointments – Samantha Goetz-
Granquist was appointed to the RMAC Youth position. Mitch Shepherd, Ben Andrews,
Mary Clymer and Evelyn Reingold were reappointed to the RMAC for another 3yrs.
There is one vacancy open on the RMAC.
Art Project Initiative - The Wells Ave S/Post Office sidewalk strip “Art Garden” is a
huge success and the RMAC needs to support other low cost and low-maintenance
projects in Renton. RMAC members are encouraged to bring in ideas, with details and
costs for consideration.
RMAC Fieldtrip – On Tuesday, January 19th several RMAC members and City of Renton
staff, Elizabeth Higgins and John Collum visited the Inscape Building (Artist Studio
Collective) in Seattle to tour the building and to look at the work of Muralist, Katherine
Chilcote. We also looked at recently installed Seattle “Parklets” in the Central District
and in Columbia City.
Arts and Culture Master Plan – The RMAC priorities for the Master Plan that resulted
from the Survey Monkey items were discussed. Each RMAC member took part in the
survey. Elizabeth compiled the top items and confirmed consensus. These results
were ranked and strategies, implementation time and costs to complete them were
discussed. Elizabeth is to present our recommendations to the City Council retreat.
Correspondence and announcements: The correspondence and event folders were
circulated for individual review.

Now to May 21, 2016 - “Birth, Life & Death” exhibit at Renton History Museum
(235 Mill Ave S, 425-255-2330)
