Approval
of
Minutes:
Minutes
of
the
June
7,
2016
RMAC
meeting
were
read
and
accepted.

New
Business:

Renton
Art
Center
Project:
Fall
2016
Paul
Hebron
gave
a
detailed
presentation
of
an
Arts
Unlimited
Arts
Center
proposed
for
downtown
Renton.
Arts
Unlimited
is
a
group
of
artists,
business
owners,
and
volunteers
who
have
a
common
goal
of
building
and
connecting
community
through
the
arts.
The
center
will
be
located
at
724
S
3rd
St,
Unit
A
(formerly
Western
Wear).
The
facility
has
enough
space
(2,536
sq.
ft.)
for
galleries,
classrooms,
receptions,
and
window
displays.
One
of
the
goals
of
the
RMAC
Master
Plan
relates
to
having
adequate
arts
facilities
in
Renton.
The
owner
has
offered
generous
rental
credit
and
lease
options
that
are
under
consideration.
Arts
Unlimited
is
requesting
$8500
from
the
RMAC
to
support
their
efforts
to
secure
this
facility.

The
RMAC
agrees
to
support
the
Arts
Unlimited
Renton
Art
Center
project
through
sponsorship
and
resources
as
available.

Outdoor
Art
Gallery
–
Adrienne
La
Faye
provided
a
more
detailed
cost
estimate
for
a
rotating
art
exhibit
that
would
have
large
art,
either
4’x10’
or
6’x8’,
in
the
heart
of
downtown
Renton
at
Logan
and
Smithers.
It
would
be
located
on
the
east
wall
of
the
former
Roxy
Theatre.
The
art,
installation
and
lighting
would
need
a
budget
of
approximately
$8800.

The
RMAC
agrees
to
support
the
Outdoor
Art
Gallery
Galvanizing
Art
Project
(GAP)
through
sponsorship
and
resources
as
available.

Film
Frenzy
-‐
Ben
Andrews
announced
that
the
Film
Frenzy
will
be
held
in
the
last
week
of
October
2016.
The
Regal
Cinema
will
host
the
film
gala.
There
are
no
conflicts
with
the
dates.
-‐
Pop-‐Up
Downtown
Renton
–John
Collum,
Department
of
Community
and
Economic
Development
invited
the
RMAC
to
participate
in
the
National
Parklet
Day
celebration
on
Friday,
September
16,
2016.
Our
participation
would
involve
creating
and
hosting
a
Pop-‐Up
Parklet
at
724
S
3rd
St.
(Cortona
Building/Old
City
Hall)
which
is
on
the
National
Trust.
The
parklet
would
be
the
size
of
approximately
one
parking
space.
This
would
be
a
temporary
one
day
installation
on
display
from
12:00
–
9:00
pm
to
support
the
theme:
“Arts
in
Downtown
Renton”.
Further
discussion
at
our
August
meeting
to
determine
how
best
to
support
this
project.

2017-‐2018
Budget
Presentation
to
City
Council
–
On
June
27,
2016
the
RMAC
met
to
prioritize
our
budget
requests
for
consistency
with
the
Master
Plan.
Our
final
priorities
were
summarized
into
a
“Galvanizing
Art
in
Renton”
2017-‐2018
Proposed
Budget
by
RMAC
Staff
Liaison,
Elizabeth
Higgins.
A
formal
presentation
will
be
made
before
the
Renton
City
Council
on
Monday,
July
11,
2016
at
7:00
pm.
The
RMAC
presenters
will
be
Marsha
Rollinger,
Chair;
Mary
Clymer,
Vice-‐Chair;
and
Mitch
Shepherd,
RMAC
member.
Also
presenting
on
our
behalf
from
4Culture
will
be:
Jim
Kelly,
Exec.
Dir.
and
Charlie
Rathburn,
Mgr.
Local
Arts
Agency
Network.
Each
RMAC
member
is
encouraged
to
attend
this
important
meeting.
Correspondence
and
announcements:
The
correspondence
and
event
folders
were
circulated
for
individual
review.
The
meeting
was
adjourned
at
8:02pm.
