THE FOLLOWING WAS NOTED:
AESI was onsite part time in order to observe ADU building foundation subgrade. Upon arrival we met with Mark Seek of
Tiger Mountain Homes.
Lot 3 ADU Building Foundation Subgrade, Permit #B21005526:
Prior to our arrival the contractor excavated for ADU building foundation subgrade for Lot 3 at address 10964 SE 165th St
(Fig 1). Subgrade had been over-excavated in such a manner to remove the black, organic rich material until native silty
sand with some gravel was exposed. We were informed that this subgrade would have approximately 1’ thick of 2X4”
quarry spalls placed and compacted at the bottom followed by approximately 3’ thick of 1 ¼” minus recycle concrete as to
achieve their design grade. AESI observed some loose material which had not been removed from the excavations. AESI
recommends removing the loose soils prior to quarry spall placement. AESI observed and assessed the subgrade with a ½”
diameter steel soil probe. In our opinion the subgrade will be suitable for allowable soil bearing pressure of 1,500 psf as
per the approved plans once the loose soils are removed and the spalls/1 ¼” minus recycle concrete have been
placed/compacted.
Lot 4 ADU Building Foundation Subgrade, Permit #B2200077:
Prior to our arrival the contractor excavated for ADU building foundation subgrade for Lot 4 at address 10958 SE 165th St
(Fig 2).
AESI observed and assessed the subgrade with a
½” diameter steel soil probe. In our opinion the subgrade will be suitable for allowable soil bearing pressure of 1,500 psf
as per the approved plans once the loose soils are removed and the spalls/1 ¼” minus recycle concrete have been
placed/compacted.
AESI departed in the PM and will return 3/31/2022 in order to observe Lot 5 ADU building foundation subgrade.
