Good evening Renton City Councilmembers and Danielle,
It has come to my attention that the Renton Planning Commission will be discussing retail pet sales during their meeting
on August 4, 2021. As the prime sponsor of HB 1424, I wanted to provide you with some insight on the legislative
intention of the bill. I have attached a letter which clarifies that the bill does not contain any preemption language
preventing local jurisdictions from enacting their own bans on the retail sale of pets.
Danielle, could you please share my letter with the members of the Planning Commission?
I care deeply about this issue. Please let me know if you have any questions about the bill or how puppy‐selling stores
can cause harm to consumers.
