Subject:Humane Pet Ordinance
Thank you for crafting the ordinance, please recommend to the council that a humane ordinance be passed.
The owners of Puppyland will lie to you. They will brazenly try to get you to think that the Humane Society is elitist and
dog rescuers are crazy radicals. That is a switcheroo.
I am not a dog rescuer,but I admire their grit. The Humane Society is huge but it is dealing with broad array of cruelty
and neglect problems. I am so glad they exist.
It will take time to stop the seemingly endless supply of cute but often emotionally damaged or sick dogs who were
bred without adequate genetic testing (thereby spreading these traits).
Families buy these dogs,it can be 3 to 5 years later before some of the genetic illnesses develop. The vet bills will
overwhelm a young family,especially if they are still paying off the cost of the dog.
We have many wonderful honest businesses in Renton. I am very happy for this ordinance, and hope the council follows
our recommendation to enact a humane ordinance.
