Renton Planning Commission Meeting by Gina Cari
Thank you so much for the opportunity to speak. My name is Gina Cari and I live
here in Renton and I am a voter and animal advocate.
Recent state legislation HB1424 prohibits future retail sales of puppies. To stop
the one existing Renton business from selling puppies, we need a Humane
Ordinance.
A Humane Ordinance:
stops the sale of puppy mill puppies here in Renton;
supports responsible breeders, rescues and humane society pets;
is consistent with our values; and
protects dogs from being bred for mass production and profit.
I just want to thank you, the Planning Commission for all the time, effort, and
research you have put into this issue. I know it hasn’t always been easy to
separate the rhetoric from the truth. I look forward to your recommendations to
the City Council. Thanks so much.
