Thank you. Thank you for taking the time to become educated about puppy mills. By now, I am sure you have been inundated with facts/figures/data and other discourse. I, myself, have spoken three times to the planning commission and written one letter, so I have definitely have a dog in this fight, so to speak. Animal abuse is a highly emotional topic for many people, and knowledge that a business is operating in our city which supports and facilitates this horrific treatment is understandably infuriating. You are at a point where you can’t really say you don’t know what the business model is for this store. You can decide not to do anything about it, and continue to condone and support Puppyland. But you cannot in good conscience pretend that you are not aware of the horrors of where these 657 puppies came from and will continue coming from, as there is documented proof that has been provided to you and that is available to the public through the Department of Agriculture. Please pass the humane ordinance so Renton and its citizens do not continue to sanction the greed and callousness that drives the puppy mill business model. I have great hope that Renton will follow the lead of over 400 cities and municipalities nationwide which have passed humane ordinances. I will leave you all with this quote: "One doesn’t have to operate with great malice to do great harm. The absence of empathy and understanding are sufficient”- Charles M.
