Hello Mayor Pavone & Council members:
My name is Traci Keeney and I am a resident of Renton, Washington.
I am reaching out to you today to ask the council to please pass a humane pet
store ordinance. Currently, Renton has no puppy-selling pet stores within city
limits. By passing an ordinance now, you will protect your constituents from purchasinga potentially sick animal as
Washington puppy selling stores are sourcing from puppy mills. You will also protect your constituents from the high
interest pet loans that these puppy-selling stores offer. Consumers will still have the option to adopt from their local
shelter or rescue or visit and purchase from a
reputable breeder.
I would love to see Renton, the city I call home, join the more than 370 other localities nationwide and pass a
humane pet store ordinance.
