TO: Mr. Brad Brotherton
SUBJECT: LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT’S ARBORIST REPORT
BROTHERTON CADILLAC NEW BUILDING & BUICK-GMC SERVICE ADDITION
Dear Brad,
This letter is being written to satisfy the City of Renton’s requirement for an Arborist Report for the
proposed construction of two projects, a new Cadillac dealership building, and the addition to your
existing Buick-GMC dealership building.
28 trees are currently proposed for removal at the project site associated with the new Cadillac
dealership. These trees are required to be removed in conjunction with the existing single family
residence structures as a condition of the lease agreement with the current property owner. These
trees will also need to be removed to allow for construction of the new Cadillac building and associated
site and utility improvements.
One tree is proposed to be removed for construction of the building addition for the Buick-GMC site. A
14-inch maple tree is located in a landscape island at the south margin of the site. This existing tree
conflicts with the vehicular exit of the new Buick-GMC service department.
Throughout both project sites, there are 20 significant trees (trees 6-inches in diameter at 54-inches
above grade, or alder or cottonwood at lease 8-inches in diameter). Six of these trees are located within
an existing public water line easement and therefore excluded from the tree retention analysis, for a
total of 14 trees to be considered. For commercially zoned property, we are required to retain 10% of
these trees. We propose to maintain one 6-inch maple at the Buick-GMC site to satisfy this requirement.
Tree retention/removal plans are attached reflecting the above including impacted existing significant
trees, descriptions, notes and completed Tree Retention Worksheet. These plans accompany the SEPA
permit documentation package for supporting calculations. We have also furnished a conceptual
landscaping plan, which includes trees, shrubs, and groundcover to be installed throughout the
proposed project sites.
Please feel free to contact our office with any additional questions or comments regarding this project.
Sincerely,
