HomeMy WebLinkAboutNon-Project_ERC_Determination_PublicationNON-PR~1 CITY OF RENTON NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW COMMITTEE RENTON, WASHINGTON The environmental Review Committee has issued a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) for the following non-project under the authority of the Renton municipal code: Stormwater Pollution Source Control Program LUA22-000199, ECF Location: Citywide. The current Western Washington Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit (Permit) requires Renton to implement a new Stormwater Pollution Source Control (SPSC) program for existing developments. Source control is a practice that relies on preventative measures to stop pollutants before they enter the city’s storm system and subsequently end up in receiving waters. Source Control aims to address accumulation of non -point source pollutants such as fertilizers, paint, oil and grease, and wash water that originate from daily business/site activities, spill incidents, and improper disposal. By January 1, 2023, the city must implement an on-going inspection program and progressive enforcement policy. A Source Control specialist will inspect conduct on-site inspections at public and private institutional, commercial, and industrial properties with pollutant generating activities. They will provide technical assistance, education and outreach to businesses owners and operators and, if necessary, require operational or structural source control and/or treatment best management practices/facilities to prevent pollution from entering the stormwater system. A 14-day appeal period will follow the issuance of the DNS. Per WAC197-11-340(2)(c) any person, affected tribe, or agency may submit comments to the City within fourteen days of the date of issuance of the DNS.
