THE FOLLOWING WAS NOTED:
Grading North (Sketch areas 1, 2, 3):
CDC is continuing to pull wetter than optimum soil from the stockpile (Area 1), pre – dry the soil by aerating and turning with a disc in
Area 2, then moving the pre – dried soil to Area 3 for placement and compaction. We observed compaction of the current lift in Area
3 by watching the smooth drum vibratory roller. Area 3 was firm and unyielding and ready for the next lift of soil in our opinion. At
about noon today the remaining fill to reach plan grade in Area 3 visually appeared to be about 2 to 3 feet. The current process and
sequencing of the soil drying operation is working very well and assuming weather continues to be dry excellent progress is expected.
Plumbing-Electrical Conduits (Sketch Areas 4 and 5):
Most of the trenches for the plumbing and electrical lines are shallow (less than 1 foot) and were excavated in the building pad rock
(2-1/2 inch minus crushed rock). AESI made visual and t-probing observations during compaction at random locations. Subfloor
electric and plumbing backfills observed in Areas 5 and 6 today appeared firm and unyielding and suitable for support of the floor slab,
in our opinion.
Water Tie In (Sketch Area 6):
A fire loop water tie in was in progress at the northeast site corner. The area had been excavated approximately 8 feet deep and a
water tap was being observed by the City inspector. No backfill was placed today.
Conclusion
AESI will return tomorrow morning to review progress on geotechnical aspects of construction.
