Subject: Mural proposal for "art exemption" Evergreen City Ballet 1300 Bronson Way N
Hi Matt, Clark and Brittany!! (I’m casting my net wide to make sure this gets to the right person).
This request is for an exemption for a mural project in downtown Renton. The mural was approved for funding from the
Arts Commission in the first-round of 2022 grants (approved on March 1, 2022 and presented to the Committee of the
Whole on March 14). Here is the information for the proposed *temporary* mural:
1. Artist Information: Renee Hazen is the artist selected by Evergreen City Ballet to complete the work on the side
of their future (and temporary) studio space located in the former Bryant Motors building at 1300 Bronson Way
S. Renee's dance designs feature colorful ballerinas in a variety of poses and will be painted around the words
"Dance is for All." Preliminary sketches by the artist are attached. The silhouettes feature make and female
dancers, children, a variety of hair styles and body types to represent the diversity of the Renton dance
community. The mural will be 57ft long and 7.5 ft tall and will be completed on detachable mural panels
installed over the building windows while the building is under construction and the Ballet is utilizing the rear
studio space.
2. Photos of the proposed location (below): 1300 Bronson Way N (south wall facing Bronson Way N)
3. The Master Application is attached. The building is owned by the Construction Industry Training Council of WA.
The artwork has been approved for installation by the property owner.
