Questions and Answers No. 3
1. Question: Can you clarify if there is a specific manufacturer or manufacturers for the 117.1A small
cell deco luminaire poles specifically for the alum base cover? We’ve been unable to find anyone
that is familiar with that base cover specification and couldn’t find any further info for it in the
specs or plans.
Answer: Small cell deco luminaire poles will not be installed as part of the project. All street
decorative luminaire poles along Rainier Ave shall be installed per City of Renton STD plan 117.1
and have compatible foundation, conduit, and anchor bolts with small cell decorative poles.
Foundation shall support pole shown in Standard plan 117.1A. Foundation, conduit, and anchor
bolt details shall be per standard plan 117.1A. Revised illumination plan sheets 200‐209 will be
issued with Addendum No. 3. See attached updated City of Renton STD plans 117.1, 117.1A,
117.1B for reference.
2. Question: This question pertains to construction notes 3 and 25 on illumination plan sheets 200
201, 202, 203, 204, and 207 concerning arterial street small cell decorative luminaire poles per
Renton City Standard 117.1A. In order to deploy carrier equipment within a concealment including
a shrouded structural base, thermal certification according to Telcordia GR‐487 is an industry
standard requirement used as a minimum requirement by Verizon, ATT and T‐Mobile. As such, will
manufacturers’ supplying small cell decorative luminaire pole assemblies per standard 117.1A and
117.1B be required to be able to provide thermal certification according to Telcordia GR‐487?
Answer: Small cell deco luminaire poles will not be installed as part of the project. All street
decorative luminaire poles along Rainier Ave shall be installed per City of Renton STD plan 117.1
and have compatible foundation, conduit, and anchor bolts with small cell decorative poles.
Foundation shall support pole shown in Standard plan 117.1A. Foundation, conduit, and anchor
bolt details shall be per standard plan 117.1A. Revised illumination plan sheets 200‐209 will be

3. Question: On the water plans in several places there is the callout 5 – install 2” tap for 2” air &
vacuum release assembly on blind flange per City of Renton STD Plans No 340.4, after removal of
polypig and blow‐off assembly. Plan 300.6 is a tapping tee detail. Is it supposed to be plan 300.7?
On construction note 5 are we to install a 2” air/vacuum release assembly or just the blind flange?
If we need to install air/vacuum release assembly, which bid item would it go under, as there are
only 2 on the bid schedule, and those are for the 2 stand alone assemblies on the plans?
Answer: Renton Std Plan 300.6 is Polypig station for Cleaning of Water Mains detail dated
March 2010, this is the correct Polypig station detail. There is currently no Renton Std Plan 300.7.
That is correct, there are only 2 air/vacuum assemblies that are standalone for the project.
Construction note 5 does not pertain to the polypig station locations and should be removed.
Water plan sheet 124 & 128 have been updated for these changes and will be issued with
Addendum No. 3.
4. Question: On the sanitary sewer plan page 120 shows water & sewer utility clearances, and which
materials to use. On the below example with the 6” water close to the 8” SS line. Do we use 8”
C900 per note 2 below, or 8” ductile iron per the detail on plan page 120? Do we use this pipe for
the whole 281 ft run, or just a certain footage before and after the 6” water line? Or do we still
just use SDR35 PVC for the 281 ft run?
Answer: To be answered at a later date.
5. Question: Does Bid Item A69 Dewatering apply to all schedules of work, or is exclusive to just
Schedule A?
Does Bid Item A154 Utility Potholing apply to all schedules of work, or is it exclusive to just
Schedule A?
Answer: Bid Item A69 Dewatering (now item A70 Dewatering from Addendum No. 2) shall apply
to all schedules of work.
Bid Item A154 Utility Potholing (now item A155 Utility Potholing from Addendum 2) shall apply to
all schedules of work.

6. Question: Who is responsible for the costs associated with temporary relocations of the existing
power and or franchise utility vaults or conduits where they conflict with the proposed JUT
installation. Example, Proposed vault CL09 is in the same location as the existing vault.
Answer: No temporary relocations will be required, the existing telecommunication and electrical
system shall remain operational during the installation of the underground utility system. Existing
vault CL09 will remain in place, the cover will be replaced with an ADA compliant cover. CL09 note
on sheet 146 will be revised for clarity and issued with Addendum 3.
