Questions and Answers No. 6
1. Question: Addendum 4, plan sheet 120, revision to water & sewer utility clearance states that
sewer and storm pipe shall be either C900 or DI, depending on size, when minimum clearance
cannot be met from ex. water main. Does this requirement also apply when minimum clearance
cannot be met with new water main?
For example would the 30’ of 12” SD from structure 148 to 147 on plan sheet 93 need to be bid a
C900 because the minimum 1.5’ clearance is not met between the storm and the new 8” water
main? And would the 66’ of 18” SD between structure 144 and 143 on plan sheet 93 need to be DI
because the minimum clearance is not met between the 8” water main.
Additionally, addendum 4 revised a portion of the 18” poly pipe to 18” DI pipe, was this revision
made because of clearance issue with the water main? If so, does it need to be bid as CL52 with
polywrap per spec. section 7‐04.2?
Answer: Water and sewer utility clearance detail sheet 120 applies to when minimum clearance
cannot be met with existing water main and new water main.
Projections have been updated to clarify new 8” water main satisfies the minimum 1.5’ clearance
from the 30’ of 12” SD run from structure 148 to 147 and the 66’ of 18” SD between structure 144
and 143. Addendum 8 will be issued with updated plan sheets 92‐93.
The 18” DI Pipe revision was made in Addendum 4 due to clearance. Per spec section 7‐04.2 this
run does require DIP with polywrap.

2. Question: Regarding the Extruded Curb and the Modified Concrete Extruded Curb Type 6 (bid
items A114 and A115)
Section 8‐04.3(1) of the special provisions reads, “…Modified Cement Concrete Extruded Curb
Type 6, and Extruded Curb shall be constructed with air entrained concrete class 4000…”
Section 8‐04.3(1) of the standard specifications allows that air entrained concrete Class 3000 can
be utilized for curb (including extruded curb); with the exception that air entrained concrete class
4000 shall be used for full width of a driveway entrance.
As the modified concrete extruded curb type 6 and extruded curb will not be placed at a driveway
entrance, will it be acceptable to utilize air entrained concrete class 3000 for BI’s A114 and A115?
Answer: Modified concrete extruded curb type 6 and extruded curb shall be Class 4000 per
special provision 8‐07.3(1). See also plans Roadway Section sheets 5‐9, general typical section
note #7 on roadway section sheets of the plans (sheet 5‐9) that states “All cement concrete used
in project shall be class 4000.”
