NEW BUSINESS
a) Review demographics of Renton residents served in 2021.
Lori Fleming, Human Services Coordinator presented the demographics provided by the 50
Human Services programs in 2021. Highlights of services provided to Renton residents for 2021
include:
• 7,400 Renton residents served - these could be duplicates.
• 33% of human services recipients are Youth (ages 0-17). Next largest group, 31% are
25-54 years old.
• 61% of human services recipients identify as female.
• 50% of recipients are extremely low income <30% AMI.
• Any unknowns in the data are residents who did not want to share information.
Reviewed the Human Services Funders Collaborative Per Capita chart, showing Renton's per
capita and the Human Services Division proposed increase of $250,000 in direct grants for
2023-2024. HSAC was advised Renton City Council will approve the 2023-2024 budget on
November 14, 2022.
b) Committee suggestions for agency presentations in 2023.
HSAC requested to compile a list of 2-3 agencies from a mix of the six priority need areas they
would like to have present. Selected agencies will provide a 10-15 minute presentation to
HSAC for meetings in 2023. HSAC preferred one agency presentation per meeting.
c) Human Services Advisory Committee Vacancies and Expiring Terms.
Guy Williams discussed the 4 vacancies for HSAC, one being a Youth position. Discussed
different groups to inquire with about vacancies. Member Friedmann and Member Barquet,
whose positions expire 12/31/2022, indicated they are interested in being reappointed. HSAC
advised of Member Dubravetz's resignation from HSAC.
