Applying for a Temporary Event Permit Online
Published : 12/1/2022 City of Renton will be utilizing permitting.rentonwa.gov for Temporary Event Permits. Site registration is required. From the Home Screen:
Select Apply on the top Menu bar,
then click All to see the full
list of permit types available.
Type Event in the
search box or
scroll to find the
Temporary Event
Permit application.
Click Apply.
Step 1: Permit Details
In the Description field, enter a 1-2 sentence description of
your event. (Required)
Click Next.
Step 2: Contacts
Your contact information will auto populate as the Applicant.
Please add a secondary Contact, someone the event permitting staff can contact in case
the applicant is unavailable, by clicking the blue tile labelled Contact:
then search for a contact by name or
email address:
If their information is not already in the system, click
Enter Manually.
Provide a name, email address, and contact phone
number
then click Submit.
(Optional) You can also identify additional contacts associated with the application:
To add an optional contact, select their role from the dropdown menu,
then click the blue tile to add the contact.
Click Next.
Step 3: More Info
Provide additional detailed information about your event. The items with a red asterisk (*) are required and must be
filled in to continue the application.
Event Name*: the title of your event
Proposed Event Location*: Where do you propose to hold
your event? Please include any desired facilities including
restrooms or parking lots. Please note that, while we will
make every effort to accommodate your event at the
requested location, request submission is not a guarantee of
site availability.
Proposed Event Date(s)*: What dates to you propose for your event? Please include any days needed for setup and
dismantling. If your event is only on one day, please enter the same day in all fields.
Hours of Operation*: indicate times your event will be occurring,
as well as times for setup and dismantling.
Estimated number of attendees*: approximately how many people do you anticipate having on-site during your event?
Previous dates and locations: If your event has been held before,
please indicate where and when.
Is this event intended to be annual?: Tick this box if you plan to hold your event again next year.
Event Website: If your event has a website, social media page, or other online presence, please provide a link.
Primary Contact Date of Birth*: Most events on City property will require a site reservation. Renton’s site reservation
system requires a date of birth for the organizer to confirm they are 21 or older.
Organization(s) putting on event*: The name(s) of the organization(s) putting on the event.
Organization’s UBI: the 9-digit Washington State Unified Business Identifier (UBI) number, provided by the Washington
State Department of Revenue. If you don’t have one, this can be left blank.
Organization’s Business License Number: the 5-digit City of Renton business license number, provided by the City of
Renton Tax and License division. If you don’t have one, this can be left blank.
Is the Organization a non-profit?: Tick this box if the organization putting on the event is a government-recognized non-
profit organization.
Event Details (tick boxes): Select all tick boxes that
correspond to features of your event. Please note:
• Not all requests may be permitted at the proposed
event location.
• Some requests may result in additional
requirements, permits, or fees.
We will work with you during the permitting process to
determine the feasibility and requirements of each feature.
Event Detail (description): For each tick box selected, please
describe in detail your event feature needs and/or how you
plan to execute that feature.
Other: If there are additional features that are important to your event, please describe them in this space.
Emergency Plans*: Please provide details on how you plan to
manage any emergencies that occur during your event.
Parking Plans*: Please provide details on where event participants
and staff should park their vehicles during the event.
Click Next.

Step 4: Attachments
A site plan is required at time of application. This drawing should include all the elements of your event in the proposed
location in a .pdf or .jpg format.
To attach your site plan, click the blue tile
then browse to and select your file.
To add an additional attachment,
select the type of attachment from the drop-down menu,
then click the blue tile, browse and select your file.
Click Next.
Step 5: Review and Submit
The information that was added in the previous steps will be displayed for review. If you wish to revise or add
information, please use the Back button located in the bottom left-hand corner.
Click Submit.
Congratulations!
Your Temporary Event Permit application has been submitted. You will be redirected to the Permit Details page to
receive additional information about the permit, including the Permit Number, Status, and progress. You will be
contacted about your application within 7 business days.
