GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES SHALL BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO PLACEMENT OF PAVING AND BASE OR
CONCRETE.
2. SECTION 4216/4217 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE REQUIRES A DIG ALERT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER BE
ISSUED BEFORE EXCAVATION WILL BE PERMITTED. CALL FOR MARK —OUTS AND A DIG ALERT I.D. NUMBER
FROM UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT, AT 1-800-424-5555 AT LEAST TWO WORKING DAYS BEFORE
EXCAVATION.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE RESPECTIVE UTILITY OWNERS AND OTHER AGENCIES AT LEAST
TWO WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO START OF CONSTRUCTION.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR EXPOSING, VERIFYING LOCATIONS BOTH HORIZONTAL
AND VERTICAL, AND MAINTAINING ALL EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES, SHOWN OR NOT SHOWN ON THE
PLANS DURING CONSTRUCTION. REPAIR DAMAGED UTILITIES TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER OF
WORK. LOCATE EXISTING UNDERGROUND FACILITIES SUFFICIENTLY AHEAD OF CONSTRUCTION TO PERMIT
REVISIONS TO PLANS BECAUSE OF LOCATIONS OF EXISTING FACILITIES.
5. IF THERE IS A CONFLICT BETWEEN THIS PLAN AND OTHER PLANS, EVEN IF THE OTHER PLAN IS DATED
AFTER THIS PLAN, DO NO WORK UNTIL THE CONFLICT IS RESOLVED AND REVIEWED BY THE ENGINEER OF
WORK.
6. ALL CONCRETE FORMS AND REINFORCING ARE TO BE INSPECTED AND ACCEPTED BY THE INSPECTOR
OF RECORD BEFORE CONCRETE IS PLACED.
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY FOR TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN
SAFETY DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION, INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY. THIS
RESPONSIBILITY SHALL APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AROUND THE CLOCK.
8. APPROVAL OF THIS PLAN IS BASED ON THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE ENGINEER OF WORK.
WHERE FIELD CONDITIONS VARY, REVISION MAY BE REQUIRED.
9. EXISTING STREETS AND PARKING SHALL BE KEPT FREE OF DIRT AND DEBRIS, AND MAINTAINED IN
GOOD CONDITION. DUST CREATED AS A RESULT OF THE WORK SHALL BE REMOVED REGULARLY. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR OF ANY STREET OR PROPERTY DAMAGED.
10. ALL EXISTING PAVEMENT SHOWN TO BE REMOVED SHALL BE CUT BACK TO FULL DEPTH OF BASE.
11. WHERE NEW CONSTRUCTION ADJOINS EXISTING PAVEMENT, A SMOOTH TRANSITION SHALL BE PROVIDED
IF THERE IS AN EXISTING CRACK IN CONCRETE BEING REMOVED, WITHIN TWO FEET OF THE EDGE OF A
TRENCH, THE CONCRETE PAVEMENT SHALL BE REMOVED TO THE CRACK.
12. ALL FILL AREAS SHALL BE COMPACTED TO A MINIMUM OF 90 PERCENT RELATIVE COMPACTION UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED.
13. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING AND UPDATING THE STORM WATER POLLUTION
PREVENTION PLAN THAT HAS BEEN PROVIDED BY THE ENGINEER.
14. CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAINT STREET AND PARKING LOT STRIPING IN AREAS OF NEW PAVEMENT.
15. CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE NEW STORM DRAIN SYSTEM IS OPERATIONAL & FUNCTIONAL PRIOR TO
PAVING.
16. CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT IN ACCORDANCE WITH GENERALLY ACCEPTED CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES,
CONSTRUCTION TRADE CONTRACTOR WILL BE REQUIRED TO ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY
FOR THE JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT INCLUDING
SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY; THAT THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL BE MADE TO APPLY
CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS,AND CONTRACTOR FURTHER AGREES TO
DEFEND, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD DESIGN PROFESSIONAL HARMLESS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, REAL OR
ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON THIS PROJECT, EXCEPTING LIABILITY
ARISING FROM THE SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF DESIGN PROFESSIONAL.
17. SIGNAL SYSTEM SHALL BE INSPECTED BY TRANSPORTATION MAINTENANCE PRIOR TO FINAL
ACCEPTANCE.
