THE FOLLOWING WAS NOTED:
Associated Earth Sciences Inc. (AESI) was on-site in the morning for observation of Stormwater Detention Facility 2 progress and
water line backfill at the request of Jerry Jr. of CDC.
Stormwater Detention Facility 2
While on-site, we observed that the contractor had installed most of the remaining strip of PVC liner. The contractor informed AESI
that a small section, noted in Figure 1, will remain accessible until more material can be obtained. We observed that the contractor
had completed placement of 9” of aggregate across the base of the facility and the placement of stormwater chambers was
underway. In the western end of the facility, the contractor had placed aggregate around the chambers and 1’ above, as per plan.
AESI observed the contractor using a plate compactor to compact the top of the 1’ of aggregate. See Figure 1 for location of
observed area today.
Water Line Backfill
Upon arrival, AESI observed 4’ of water line backfill being placed across Chelan Ave NE. The backfill, consisting of 5/8” minus crushed
rock, was placed in 1’ lifts and compacted with a hoepac. AESI observed the contractor moisture condition the backfill prior to
placement, per our recommendation. AESI used a density gauge to test the newly backfilled section. Test results met or exceeded
95% compaction (Table 1). In our opinion, based on our observations and test results, we found the observed area of backfill, to be
firm and unyielding and suitable for support of planned paving. See Figure 2 for location of area observed today.
