THE FOLLOWING WAS NOTED:
Associated Earth Sciences Inc. (AESI) was on-site in the morning for observation of asphalt placement and Stormwater Detention
Facility 2 progress, at the request of Jerry Jr. of CDC.
Asphalt Placement – Chelan Ave NE
While onsite, AESI observed placement of 4” inches of asphalt in a section across Chelan Ave NE. AESI observed that Olympic Paving
placed two 2” lifts of HMA (Figure 1). Puget Paving used multiple passes with a plate compactor and double drum vibratory roller to
compact each lift of HMA. The Rice Value provided by Olympic Paving was 158.4. AESI completed compaction tests on each lift that
exceeded the 92% minimum standard for compaction (Table 1). Based on our observations and test results, we found the HMA
placed today to be suitably compacted.

Stormwater Detention Facility 2
While on-site, AESI observed progress on Stormwater Detention Facility 2. We noted that the installation of aggregate around the
stormwater chambers and 1’ above was completed for Phase 1 and that a separation liner had been placed over the top of the
aggregate, as per plan. We observed that the contractor had placed approximately 2’ of backfill over the completed section of the
facility. The backfill, consisting of onsite soils, was compacted with a large single drum vibratory roller. AESI used a density gauge to
test the newly backfilled section. Test results met or exceeded 95% compaction (Table 2). In our opinion, based on our observations
and test results, we found the observed area of backfill, to be firm and unyielding and suitable for support of planned hardscape areas. See Figure 2 for location of observed area today.
