THE FOLLOWING WAS NOTED:
Associated Earth Sciences Inc. (AESI) made site visits at 9am and 1pm to observe progress on detention facilities #1A and #1B, water
line, and footing backfill. Sketches and photos appear below observation notes.
Detention Facilities #1A and #1B
Today the contractor partially completed placement of the liner and the liner protection geotextile at Facility #1A. Protective
nonwoven fabric consisted of Tencate Mirafi PT800E 8oz delivered in 15 foot by 300 foot rolls. The delivered protection geotextile
was not listed on the Tencate Mirafi web site, so ACF West (the material supplier) was contacted and provided a product
information sheet. The liner was delivered to the site prefabricated in a single folded sheet with no field seaming, and reportedly
consisted of PVC. There was no labelling directly on the liner to confirm the polymer type or thickness. Placement of liner and
protection geotextile completed today was generally consistent with sheet C2.11 in our opinion, and the nonwoven geotextile
appeared consistent with project Specification section 33 4000 2.6 based on the product information sheet supplied by ACF West.
During our visit the base protective layer of geotextile was placed and the liner was placed, the top protective layer was not placed
pending sealing around control structures.
Today excavation of Facility #1B was completed to base of facility elevation. Exposed soil at base of excavation consisted of very
dense native lodgement till suitable in our opinion to support the planned detention chamber system.
Water Line
Water line progress was stopped during excavation of Facility #1B, and resumed later in the day. One lift of approximately 18 inches
of fill was placed over pipe bedding and was firm and unyielding with hand probe penetration of 0.5 to 2 inches. Density testing will
be completed when additional cover is present over pipe bedding.
Footing Backfill
One footing area was stripped of forms today but not backfilled during our site visits, see plan clip below for location.
