Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment. Based on theinformation provided and our understanding of the project and itsAPE, we would recommend an archaeological review performed forthis project, especially if excavation cuts below fill. This is in an areathe Duwamish Tribe considers culturally significant and has a highprobability to have unknown archaeological deposits. The DAHPWISAARD predictive model indicates that a survey is highly advisedwith a high risk of encountering cultural resources. If anyarchaeological work is performed, we request notification. An IDPshould not be used in lieu of archaeological investigation. Culturaland archaeological resources are non-renewable and are bestdiscovered prior to ground disturbance. We realize that we are pastthe comment period. While an IDP is not ideal, the Tribe wouldaccept an inadvertent discovery plan during excavation. Afterreviewing the boring logs, we are mostly concerned with areas belowfill and into the upper layer of alluvium with lenses of organic matterand peat. In addition, the Tribe supports native vegetation forproposed landscaping.
