MAYOR, STAFF COMMENTS
Mayor Pavone provided an update on the budget process and described what has been
involved throughout the process. Budget approval is scheduled for November 14, 2022. He
also gave a preview of what the Commission can expect in 2023 and that he has asked the
department administrators to offer presentations to the group.

Request to correct Scribner's error. MOVED BY PADHI, SECONDED BY TURK APPROVAL
WITH CORRECTION OF SCRIBNER'S ERROR. CARRIED.
AUDIENCE COMMENT
Those wishing to address the Renton Equity Commission will be called upon. Each
speaker is allowed three (3) minutes.

CONSENT AGENDA
Approval of the October 11, 2022 Renton Equity Commission Regular Meeting minutes.
MOVED BY PADHI, SECONDED BY TURK. CARRIED.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Recap of Equity Commission Special Meeting and Workshop held November 3, 2022.
Benita Horn, Equity and Inclusion Consultant
Equity and Inclusion Consultant Benita Horn reviewed the discussion during the November 3
Special Meeting Workshop on developing Commission Mission and Vision statements. The
Commission proposed the following for approval.
Vision:
A city where one's identity does not predict outcomes, and provides equitable access to
resources and opportunities for all.
MOVED BY TURK, SECONDED BY IMAOKA. CARRIED.
Mission:
Conduct a critical analysis of, advocate for, and/or recommend city policies, processes, and
projects that advance social, economic, and racial justice for the community.
MOVED BY TURK, SECONDED BY PADHI. CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS
NONE.
COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS
Commissioners expressed gratitude toward each other and noted the December 13, 2022
meeting has been canceled. They wished each other happy holidays.
COMMITTEE CHAIR COMMENTS
Chair Hill thanked the Commissioners for their work and mentioned she will reach out to
them to inquire about a holiday gathering during which no city discussions or decisions will be
made.
