Grady Way or via Zoom CALL TO ORDER The Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) meeting for November 15, 2022 was called to order at 3:06 p.m. by Chair Scovel. ROLL CALL ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: Staff Members Present: Joe Scovel, Chair Guy Williams, Human Services Manager Adair Hasty, Vice Chair Nina Christian, Administrative Secretary 1 Gary Barquet Aaron Raymond, GIS Analyst Margarita Villarreal Daniela Whitman, Senior Finance Analyst Committee Members Absent: Amy Koehl Jessie Friedmann Leslie Anderson APPROVAL OF AGENDA Moved by Member Villarreal, seconded by Vice Chair Hasty to approve the agenda. MOTION CARRIED. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Approval of October 18, 2022 Human Services Advisory Committee Meeting minutes. Moved by Member Barquet, seconded by Vice Chair Hasty. MOTION CARRIED. Page 1 of 2 November 15, 2022 Human Services Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes AUDIENCE COMMENT No audience comments. NEW BUSINESS a) Follow up on agency presentation suggestions for 2023. HSAC reminded to provide a list of agencies from a mix of the six priority need areas they would like to have present for 2023. HSAC discussed importance of having smaller agencies that are less known to present to HSAC. Chair Scovel proposed to continue this agenda item for the next meeting in January. b) Update on recruiting process for open Committee positions - Guy Williams, Human Services Manager. HSAC advised that there is an advertisement posted on the City of Renton website for the four vacant Committee positions including a youth position. Staff will conduct first review of the applications as they are received but continue to accept applications through November 30, 2022. c) Presentation on City of Renton Demographics - Aaron Raymond, GIS Analyst. Aaron Raymond, GIS Analyst presented the City of Renton’s demographics gathered from the 2010 and 2020 US Census. Highlights of Renton’s 2020 demographics include: • 8th largest city in Washington, with a population of 107,500 • 60% of Renton’s population was non-White • 37% of Renton’s population reported non-English as primary language • 47% of Renton’s housing units were renter occupied ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m. There is no Renton Human Services Advisory Committee Meeting in December.
