PROJECT NARRATIVE: Roof Replacement for Main Library
Project Summary:
New roofing will be applied to the roof deck of the main library building.
The new roofing will be a modified bitumen roll product installed in a "torch
down" application. Prior to installation the previous roofing layer will be
removed and disposed of.
Basis for Exemption:
This project falls under the exemption "normal maintenance or repair of
existing structures or developments, including damage by accident, fire or
elements." It is definitely maintenance because a building's roofing must
be repaired or replaced on a regular basis.
Name of Adjacent Water Area:
Cedar River.
Nature of Existing Shoreline:
River bank with rock-filled gabions.
Structures which might have views obstructed as a result of the project:
None. There will be no change in the existing building's profile.
Proposed use of the property:
No change from current use as a library.
Scope of Proposed Improvements:
Replacement of approximately 20,000 square feet of roofing. (See "Project
Summary" above.)
