ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, CHANGING THE
ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF
RENTON FROM RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT (R-2) to BUSINESS DISTRICT (B-1)
WHEREAS under Chapter VII, Title IV (Building Regulations) of Ordinance Noe'
1626 known as the "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton", as amended, °
and, the maps adopted in conjunction therewith, the property hereinbelow described has
heretofore been zoned as RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT (R-2), and
WHEREAS a proper $etition for change of zone classification of said property
has been filed with the City Clerk on or about February 24, 1966, which petition we
then duly referred to the Planning Commission for investigation, study and public
hearing, and a public hearing having been held thereon on or about March 23, 1966,
all pursuant to notice of hearing duly published and posted as provided by law;
and said matter having been duly considered by the Planning Commission, and said
rezoning being in conformity with the City',s Comprehensive Plans and all parties
having been heard appearing in support thereof or in obposition thereto, NM THEREF3';
BE IT ORDAINED BY TIDE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The following described property in the City of Renton is hereby
rezoned to Business District (Boil); the City Engineer and the Planning Director
are hereby authorized and directed to change the maps of the Zoning Ordinance, as
amended, to evidence said rezoning, as fellows:
Let 4, Block 4, Meter Line Addition to the City of Renton.

SECTION IIt This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, approval and legal publication.

Chairman Garrison asked if there were any objections or comments
from the audience. There being none , the following action was
taken:
ACTION:
Moved by Denzer, seconded by Cordell , that the hearing be clos-
ed. Motion carried.
Moved by Cordell , seconded by Teegarden, to concur with the
staff and committee reports and recommend 'to the City Council
approval of the rezone from R-2 to R-3 , as it is in agreement with
the Comprehensive Plan. Motion carried.
m Mr. Racanello abstained from discussion and voting on this matter.

Staff report : The Comprehensive Plan indicates this area as
potential commercial use. The property is presently being used
for commercial use on a nonconforming basis .
Committee report : The proposed zone would be in agreement
with the Comprehensive Plan and the Committee recommends appro-
val.
Chairman Garrison asked if there were any objections or comments
from the audience. There being none , the following action was
taken:
ACTION:
Moved by Stredicke , seconded by Bardarson, that the hearing
be closed. Motion carried.
Moved by Stredicke , seconded by Bardarson;, that the rezone be
recommended to the City Council for approval , since it is in
agreement with the Comprehensive Plan. Motion carried.
3. VARIANCE APPLICATIONS :
(1) Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co. , Appl. No. V-296-66 , request
for variance-on parking requirements , property on Williams Street
between 2nd and 3id Avenues .
Staff report : The Telephone Company has submitted plans to
construct an additional story on the existing building , which
would be used for equipment . The Applicant indicates there will
be no additional employees , and additional parking. spaces would
not becneeded.
Discussion ensued relative to the possibility of future need for
additional parking if the use of the second story of the building
should change . Representatives of the Telephone Company stated
that the use would be for equipment and the use would not be
changed in the forseeable future.
ACTION:
Moved by Stredicke , seconded by Cordell, that the hearing
be closed. Motion carried.
