AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, CHANGING THE
ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF
RENTON FROM SINGLE RESIDENCE DISTRICT (R-1) TO BUSINESS PARKING (B-P).
WHEREAS under Chapter VII, Title. IV (Building Regulations) of Ordinance No.
1628 known as the "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton", as amended,and
the maps in conjunction therewith, the property hereinbelow described has heretofore
been zoned as SINGLE RESIDENCE DISTRICT (R-1), and
WHEREAS a petition for change of zone classification of said property has been
filed with the City Clerk on or about July 1. 1966.41.:ub.jch petition was then duly referred
to the Planning Commission for investigation, study and public hearing and a public
hearing havcthg been held thereon on or about July 27, 1966; and said matter having
been duly considered by the Planning Commission and said rezoning request being in
conformity with the City's Comprehensive Plans and all parties having been heard appearing
in support thereof or in opposition thereto, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY C Otir IL OF THE CITY OF RENTON
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The following described property in the City of Renton is hereby
rezoned to Business Parking (B-P); the City Engineer and the Planning Director are
hereby authorized and directed to change the maps of the Zoning Ordinance, as amended,
to evidence said rezoning, to-wit:
Lot 5, Block 19, Less E 56 Town of Renton
(Located on Williams Street, between 4th Avenue and 5th St-Peet)
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, approval and legal publication.

Chairman Garrison asked if there were any objections or comments
from the audience. There being no comments ,-the following
actions were taken:
ACTIONS:
Moved by Teegarden, seconded by Cordell, that the hearing
be closed. Motion carried.
Moved by Cordell, seconded by Stone, that we concur in the
committee and staff report and recommend to the City Council
the rezone as requested from G-6000 to L-1, since it is in
agreement with the Comprehensive Plan. Motion carried.
(6) Charles Ruud; Appl„ No, R-340-66,, request for rezone from R-1
to B-P. Property located on the east side of Williams'Street
south of 4th Avenue, adjacent to existing tniMproved parking
lot, The Comprehensive Plan indicates this area as multiple
family residential. The proposed use is far off-street park-
ing.
Staff comment: Application indicates the puripose is to
provide tore parking in the downtown area and applicant indi-
cates he will improve the lot with black-topping, etc.
Committee_ comments: Recommend approval of the request on
the basis that the parking lot be improved to City engineer-
ing standards and specifications,
Mr. Stredicke asked relative to the existing parking lot,
which is adjoining the proposed lot.
Mr. Ericksen stated that the existing parking lot is being used
for parking at the present time, and the Applicant has indica-
tea that he will improve both lots.
Mrs. Jean Scobie asked what affect this proposed parking lot
would have on the residences in the area,, The Commission
felt that the improvement of the lots in question would help to
improve:.th:e he ighborhood
Mr. Stredicke felt that there were some questions regarding
the use of the proposed lot and the existing lot-which he
would .l,ike answered; and since the Applicant was not present,
this matter should be continued.

ACTIONS:
Moved by Stredicke, seconded by Teegarden, that we continue
the hearing until the next meeting. Motion _1oet.
Moved by Denzer, seconded by Racanello, that the hearing be
closed. Motion carried.
Moved by °enter, seconded by Racanello, that the rezone
be redomtended to the City Council for approval, since it is
in compliance with the .Comprehensive Plan. Motion carried._
