Note the steep slope and uneven ground level which is my "yard". I considered it unsafe for anyone to be back there, especially children (nieces and our grandson) and the elderly! The location of the new fence is identical to the original (deteriorated) one which was built in 2000. Beyond the fence to the north is the retaining wall and then drop-off. New Deck Area: East end of New Deck area looking west (with stairway of Existing Deck on the left.) New fence to the west and north. New Deck area photo with drawing depicting proposed location of aluminum drain grating to comply with Code R-6. Stairway to Existing Deck on the right with planting area (fern garden) between house and stairway and garden behind. East end of covered deck area beneath Existing Deck looking west to stairway of Existing Deck and planting area. North side of house and entrance to daylight basement on left. Note the single level decking that removes the "trip and fall" hazards of the original yard. Now it is a single level, continuous safe composite deck area for children to play and adults to relax on.
